Trijicon has introduced a number of new products at SHOT this year. In fact some of these new optics have already been posted for you to check out. I was lucky enough to receive a set of the XD HR sights prior to SHOT for evaluation. These pistol sights will be available for many popular guns.
After installing these sights I checked them out during a range trip in daylight and another trip at night. Trijicon has narrowed the front post compared to the previous models. They have also added your choice of yellow or orange circle around the Trijicon ampule. These sights are also a bit taller than the usual models. The rear sight has two Trijicon inserts in green so the shooter has a clear contrast making it easier to line up at night. This sight set also seems a bit brighter than the previous models. The rear sight also has a wide U-notch while the front sight is narrower than usual for acquiring a fast sight picture.
I found these sights work well in daylight or darkness. I especially like the wider field of view and contrasting colors. One thing to note is with the MOS Glock the rear sight hangs over the back of the slide a bit. With a standard Glock the sights are even with the rear of the slide. I put my Trijicon optic back on my Glock before taking the photos. The sights will not be tall enough to co-witness but they are not meant to. The retail price has yet to be announced but I imagine they will be close to the cost of other Trijicon night sights.
