SHOT 2016 was an amazing experience. Below are some pictures I took during SHOT show. This picture set will feature the most innovative products that I PERSONALLY saw. This will be my last SHOT related article. Going back to gear and gun reviews for the rest of the year. A big thank you to TFB readers for following this picture series!
The Streamlight PROTAC Rail Mount 1 flashlught features Streamlight’s DUAL FUEL technology, meaning it can run off 1 CR123 battery or 1 AA alkaline battery. High setting is 350 lumens for 1 hour and 45 minutes on the Low setting, 40 lumens for 14 hours 30 minutes. If an AA Alkaline battery is used, on the high setting 150 lumens for 1 hour 30 minutes and 40 lumens for 8 hours on the low setting.
SIDELOK Optic Mount from Kinetic Development Group. These mounts attach by a patented cam system that locks the mount to the rail. The cam system negates the need for tools, levers or knobs. There was absolutely no wiggle. The cam system is activated by pushing the release button. In this picture the release button is under the front lens of the pictured Aimpoint sight.
Billet Rifle Systems is offering a jig to assist in the installation of a low profile gas block. The Jig also has a hole that can be used to drill and pin the gas block in place. I recently worked on a rifle that had a gas block that was secured by screws on the bottom of the gas block. The gas block subsequently came loose and needed to be re-tightened. Aside from tightening, Rocksett was applied to the screws. I am planning on ordering several of these jigs and using them for my builds. I would never go into harms way with a rifle that did not have a gas block pinned in place.
Hartman MH1. The Hartman MH1 was designed by an absolute bad ass named Mikey Hartman. Mikey is a former IDF Lieutenant Colonel. The MH1 is a state of that art holographic weapons sight that has a plethora of awesome features. Some shooters prefer Holographic sights to traditional red dots do to the field of view.
The Hartman MH1 on Range Day. Mikey and his brother were awesome individuals. Extremely nice guys. Hopefully TFB can get to test one of these sights during the 2016 writing cycle.
Sauer came out with a 404 series rifle that could be packed down into a very small package for ease of travel. The 404 is also unique because the caliber can be changed by switching out the bolt face and the barrel using a tool that also doubled as a sling swivel. Please note the rifle pictured, is not the rifle that could be taken apart. I did not get a chance to get a picture of that particular rifle.
NEMO arms had some neat big bore Ar patterned rifles.
Cobalt Kinetics is offering some very innovative Ar-15’s. Some features of these rifles include the ability to automatically eject a spent magazine, as well as having the bolt close when a fresh magazine is inserted into the gun.
Fix it sticks, are tiny screw drivers that that take a variety of bits. Fix it sticks are engineered to torque to a specific value.
Not exactly ground breaking, but Rock River is offering a rifle with charging handles on the handguard along the bore. These handles are ambidextrous.
The Heat Abatement Device and the Mirage Abatement Device suppressor covers from Rifles Only. The Heat Abatement Device consist of an inner core, and an outer core. The inner core is rated for 3000 degrees as well as full automatic fire.
Rifles Only is also offering their Shooters Book. This book has a modular design. End users can configure it with bullet cards, pouches and data cards.
Rifles Only has Slap Data Cards. The Card can be pulled out of the Range book and simply slapped to the forearm. Neat product.
Prime Manufacturing Group is definitely a company to watch in 2016.
America. We are very lucky to live in such an amazing country.
