TFB Podcast Roundup 66: ATF Regs, and Tactical Blindness

TFB Podcast Roundup 83: Everyone is Worried About the Future

Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 66. As the year continues to press on and we’re forced to enter yet another cycle of intense politics, the topic of ATF regulations always seems to come to the fore within the firearms world. While we here at TFB like to stay away from the political side of things, the regulations that the ATF puts out affect us directly and so we’ll often address them. Most recently the ATF put a new ruling regarding firearm frames or receivers which has since been subject to an expanded preliminary injunction challenging the ruling by the FPC. Pistol stabilizing braces have also been a pretty hot-button topic this year but for those outside the firearm world what exactly constitutes a pistol or rifle is often still a confusing subject. On that note, we’ll be hearing from Tampa Carry where they explain with visual aids exactly which is what and what federal codes apply to each firearm just to remove all doubt on the subject. We’ll also be hearing from the Firearms Nation podcast and their guest former US Army Sniper John Simpson to talk about the concept of Tactical Blindness and how to deal with it. Please sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s selection of gun podcast content!

Firearms Nation Podcast 199: John Simpson – Former Sniper and Flash Recognition

    Length: 76 Minutes

John Simpson is a former US Army Sniper and instructor. John also teaches at SniperCraft alongside Derrick Bartlett, who was on Episode 187. I had a great talk with Derrick about “Tactical Blindness” and when I heard that John teaches a technique called “Flash Recognition,” I wanted to bring him on. Flash Recognition is a technique used with fighter pilots and has applications in the shooting/sniper world. Tampa Carry – What Determines If A Gun Is A Pistol or Rifle?

    Length: 5 Minutes

Do you own an AR-style custom-built gun with a barrel length of less than 16″ but a total length greater than 26″? Will it be classified as a rifle or a pistol? If you’re not sure whether a gun is a pistol or a rifle, watch this video where we go over the definition according to Federal Code 26 USC 5845 section A. We also compared the three LWRC firearms, Rifle, SBR, and Pistol, because they all look the same. I will also share one of the great books I have that’s really helpful in learning more about Federal Statutes and US Codes. TFB Behind The Gun Podcast Episode #47: Ron with Trailblazer Firearms

    Length: 32 Minutes

On today’s TFB Behind the Gun Podcast, we’ve brought on the President of Trailblazer Firearms, Ron Dan. Ron has a lot of experience within the firearms industry having spent his entire professional career in the industry. Ron has worked in everything from retail, distribution, manufacturing, and sales and now sits at the head of Trailblazer Firearms. Trailblazer is most well known for its LifeCard single shot 22 caliber foldable pistols but during TriggerCon 2022 Trailblazer brought out their two newest toys for everyone to try out. The newest iteration of the LifeCard pistol will now include a 1/2×28 threaded barrel making it what Trailblazer believes to be the world’s smallest suppressor host. In addition to the threaded barrel LifeCard, Trailblazer also brought out their new Pivot 9mm PCC folding rifle which is both a novel design and one that should be futureproofed against any of the ATF’s constantly changing metrics for what constitutes a legal firearm. Today Dan and I discuss both of these new firearm offerings from Trailblazer in detail and also give you guys a glimpse of what is to come down the road in 2023. Please welcome the President of Trailblazer Firearms, Ron Dan to the show!
