With SHOTShow just around the corner, the “sneak peaks” are starting to make their appearance. Once of the first is the upcoming long-slide 1911 by CZ under the Dan Wesson brand. The new handgun is a single stack chambered in both 10mm and .45 ACP.

Key specs include a 6.3″ match-grade barrel (.2″ longer than the MOS Glock 40 we reviewed) and built-in adjustable sights (front is fiber optic and the rear is tritium). Safeties are right-hand only. Unfortunately for defensive-oriented users, the frames do not look to have a rail mounting system (which is a real travesty to me, these days, especially at the price). Fortunately, there is at least front and rear cocking serrations and both the front and back-straps are checkered.

Per CZ, the handgun is oriented for “hunters”, which would seem to be the only users given the cartridge and sight configuration. Handgun weight is not listed, but it is expected to be among the heavy handguns available today given CZ’s history of using steel frames and slides.

According to GunsHolsters&Gear, the handgun will be available in a “variety of finishes”. At initial release, the gun will be in black on black (both calibers) and a black on bronze model (10mm only).

Retail pricing is pegged above $2,000 for any of the models, reported to be between $2,064 and $2,194.
