Winchester to Introduce SXP Universal Hunter

    Winchester SXP Universal Hunter

Winchester Repeating Arms is set to launch a new line of SXP shotguns called the Universal Hunter. The new Universal Hunter joins other SXP hunting shotguns such as the Waterfowl Hunter and the Turkey Hunter.

The new smooth bore guns will come in both 12- and 20-gauge models. The 12-gauge models will be available with both 3″ and 3.5″ chambers. All gauges and chambers will be available with 24″, 26″ and 28″ models for a total of nine different possibilities. The 12-gauge, 3″ chamber guns will carry a suggested retail price of $469.99. The 20-gauge and 3.5″ 12-gauge models will have an MSRP of $509.99.

These new pump scatterguns sport a synthetic stock with a Mossy Oak Break Up Country Camo finish. Like the stocks used on some of the company’s other long guns, the Universal Hunter will have textured gripping surfaces on the fore end to give the shooter a sure grip when running the gun.

Winchester hard chrome plates the chamber and bore to improve corrosion resistance. A black chrome is used on other parts. The gun uses Invector-Plus choke tubes. Winchester claims the SXP is the world’s fastest pump action shotgun. I don’t know of any empirical study that has been done to prove, or disprove, the statement.

A Truglo Long Bead fiber optic sight is up front. The alloy receiver is drilled and tapped for the addition of the optic of your choosing. Other features include an Inflex Technology recoil pad and a drop out trigger group.
