James Reeves is at IWA/Enforce Tac 2024 talking to the guys at Valtro about their Italian modular Glock-type pistols. Valtro, an Italian firearm manufacturer, has introduced a line of pistols that appear to cater to those seeking alternatives to Glock – the PF9 model. This model, which Valtro promotes with the tagline “Built by Hand, to Perform in Yours,” signifies a blend of traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. The original Valtro Firearms gained recognition for their semi-custom 1911 and the PM-5 shotgun, indicating a history of producing quality firearms.
The PF9 model from Valtro is designed to offer advanced customization to accommodate various shooters. Key features include an enhanced grip texture, an improved trigger for sure and accurate shooting, and a low barrel bore axis with a 19-degree grip angle for a natural point-of-aim. Unlike traditional Glock frames, the Valtro PF9 frame is available in both polymer and aluminum options, providing a unique selling point for those looking for a different feel or weight in their handgun. The aluminum competition trigger option aims to offer an optimal crisp trigger with a lighter pull and tactile audible reset.
Furthermore, the PF9 is designed with a rigid, embedded 42NiCrMo4 steel chassis in the frame to reduce flex and torque when firing, enhancing the shooting experience. The model also features polymer frames in various colors like black, green, tan, and grey, and aluminum frames in silver and black, offering aesthetic customization options for buyers.
All PF9 slides are optics-ready and come with steel sights, and the barrels are button-rifled, available in standard and threaded versions. The PF9 is a striker-fired, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, with a magazine capacity of 17+ rounds.
