Optics on a Budget: New Athlon Optics TALOS BTR GEN2 Riflescopes

It was hard to imagine a first focal plane rifle scope for under $400, but the first generation Talos BTR proved it could be done. The Talos BTR GEN2 builds on that reputation with improved turrets and the addition of a true precision zero stop. Like its 1-4×24 little brother, the 4-14×44 is Waterproof, Nitrogen Purged, and features Multi-Coated Lenses, Parallax Adjustment, Illuminated and Etched Reticle, and superb tracking. Add 3.23 inches of eye relief and an incredibly light weight of 23.6 ounces and you get an incredibly versatile optic – perfect for hunting and long-range competition. Three unique reticle options are available – two in MIL and one in MOA.

While the LPVO market might be a bit oversaturated at the moment, the Athlon Optics still comes in at a pretty affordable price point that may make it worth picking up for the budding competitor or hunter on a budget, meanwhile, the TALOS BTR GEN2 4-14×44 FFP riflescope features a durable design that’s suitable for all sorts of weather conditions making it ideal as a lightweight hunting scope or entry-level precision rifle optic with several reticles available in either MOA or MILs.
