2021 has been a whirlwind year. I’m sure every single one of you has had a rough go at it over the last dozen months or so but thankfully we have Christmas here to help bring our spirits up a bit after enduring so much. That being said, Christmas often comes with its own stressors and complications but here at TFB, we feel like we should make things just a bit easier for you when it comes to your Christmas shopping whether its last minute or you’re well prepared and just need a few items to round out gifts for the gun enthusiasts in your life. So for the first day of TFB Christmas, we’re going to get you set up with magazines aplenty!

Yes, I know the 12 Days of Christmas doesn’t start till December 25th. Yes, I know not all of you are religious and probably not all of you celebrate Christmas. Let’s just have fun and pretend. 

One of my favorite places to head on over to for magazines is GunMag Warehouse. The Guys over there not only have one of the best selections of magazines available, but they also have great pricing, always have what I need in stock, and have phenomenal customer service. As an added bonus, their Instagram page is quite humourous too and if you’re on that particular social media platform, you might get a kick out of some of their online shenanigans. However, GunMag Warehouse isn’t the only place magazines can be had online and these other great retailers I’ve included on this list have magazines in stock and ready to ship.

It’s never too late or too early to keep buying magazines while they are affordable. While I’m quite aware that they aren’t as cheap as they were “back in your day”, the point still stands that quality reliable magazines are still kinda cheap (around the $12) mark for most. Every gun guy or gal could always use more AR-15 magazines for when their current inventory finally dries up or gives up the ghost and these Durmag Magazines are available in a wide variety of colors for just $9.99 per magazine.

GLOCK – MODEL 19 9MM MAGAZINES @ Brownells

The Glock 19 is a near-ubiquitous firearm when it comes to handguns and for a good reason – it’s extremely reliable, simple, lightweight, and accurate as far as handguns go. Glock fanboys will know that Glock magazines aren’t entirely made from polymer but instead have a steel core which is then coated in a polymer jacket to give you both the benefits of lightweight and durable polymer and tough as nails steel. Most brick-and-mortar stores I’ve been to recently sell 15-round Glock 19 magazines for about $30+. Brownells has them on sale right now for about $25 so they’d make a great stocking stuffer for your friends who worship at the altar of Gaston Glock.

MAGPUL – SHORT ACTION AICS 10RD PMAG AC MAGAZINE 308 WINCHESTER @ Brownells

I’ve always sort of felt like bolt action guns and the like have been neglected when it comes to developments and improvements made to magazines. Thankfully Magpul and a handful of other companies have stepped in to fill the AICS itch that many shooters have now because of PRS style competitions and the like. AICS magazines aren’t exactly cheap but it can’t hurt to have a few spare mags around – especially if you’re a competitor and you’re dropping them in the dirt and slamming them against barriers a lot. Brownells currently has 10-round AICS magazines for 308 Winchester (and other cartridges) at a price of $37.95. While there is an option to purchase 3 magazines in a bundle, it’ll cost you almost an extra $0.25 per magazine for that option.

Wilson Combat 1911 .45 ACP 8-Round Magazine With Standard Base Pad @ GunMag Warehouse

I know we give the 1911 pistol a healthy ribbing here on TFB and the honest truth is that we do it because the gun is great and we all know it’s great. However, that doesn’t excuse the fact that the pistol still has the capacity of a micro-compact 22LR from the 1970s. You can kind of circumvent that shortcoming with Wilson Combat’s 1911 8-round magazines which I know from experience are some of the most reliable magazines on the market regardless of what manufacture your particular pistol is. The magazines are constructed from strong and corrosion-resistant steel and feature a standard polymer base pad which is great for the ole’ tap rack bang drill you’ll be doing at the range. (kidding)

These 25-round magazines aren’t cheap and I’m not going to pretend they are cheap. They normally retail for around $64 per magazine but right now they are on sale for $50. That being said, what these are really cool for is rounding out that Vietnam War Era aesthetic for your Dissipator or SP01 build that you’ve got going on. If nothing else, they just look really cool and I personally think that the 25-rounders are both rare these days and highly sought after for how unique they are. They’d make a great gift for any AR-15 owner worth their salt.

Bulgarian AK-47 7.62x39mm 30-Round Steel Lined Polymer Magazine @ GunMag Warehouse

With prices of 7.62x39mm about to hit the roof, it might be a good time to stock up on AK-47 pattern magazines if you can. While Yugo AK mags are considered to be some of the best, you don’t find them for sale online much anymore and your next best bet would be the Bulgarian slab-sided steel lined polymer magazines. Durable, affordable, and in 3 different colors, you can’t go wrong with these if you’re trying to stock up on quality AK mags.

Ruger Mark IV 22/45 .22LR 10-Round Magazine @ GunMag Warehouse

Normally I do all of my MK IV shopping at TANDEMKROSS but at the time of writing they are currently all out of MK IV 22/45 10-round magazines. While there are plenty of aftermarket magazines out there that add some functionality for competition use, they aren’t exactly necessary, and sometimes they just look god awful when compared to the stock MK IV 22/45 magazines. The ones from GunMag Warehouse are always in stock and priced lower than from other retailers for $24.99 per magazine. I have a large collection of these and I don’t think I’ll ever have enough.

Another popular rimfire staple – the 10/22 has plenty of aftermarket magazines for it but I think the ones from Ruger are the best (most notably the BX-1 10-round rotary magazines). If you’re looking to up the capacity of your 10/22 rifle for some holiday mag dumping, plinking, or squirrel hunting, then these magazines are a nice gift for the holidays and are in stock and on sale for $23. Ruger also sells 15-round magazines which are quite reliable as well so if 25-rounds is too much for you be sure to check those out.
