H&K brought a few new additions to their VP-9 lineup to Gun Fest 2021 with Angela and Bill kindly showcasing their new products for us. Bill and Angela explained that the VP9 upgrades and accessories fall right in line with their previous release of the SP-5 and SP-5K firearms. What that means is that H&K USA is listening to consumer demand and trying to bring more of what the American firearms market wants.

VP9 Upgrades

The VP 9 has received a few upgrades which include a set of conversion kits to convert your 4″ barrel VP9 into a long slide variant complete with speed cuts and fiber optic sights or the ability to mount an optic to the pistol. The pistol can accept a variety of mounting plates for various red dot optics including the Leupold Delta Point Pro and Trijicon RMR. In addition to the slide upgrades, H&K has also finally released a 20 round magazine that is compatible with the entire VP9 lineup.

Finally, H&K has also included a 13.5LH threaded barrel that is compatible with their newly released barrel mounted compensator which includes a dovetail for mounting iron sights to extend your sight radius. If you don’t want a compensator but still want a longer sight radius H&K also released the accessory without ports but kept the dovetail in place for the mounting of sights.

The VP9 Tactical has been upgraded with an optics ready cut as well as a lower 1/3 co-witness pair of suppressor height sights (also shared with the long slide versions of the standard VP9) which allows you to still be able to use your iron sights in the event that your red dot optic stops working. The VP9 Tactical can also accept the new 20-round magazines and is also able to mount both the compensator and barrel weight.

VP9SK-B

Not everyone likes paddle magazine releases. While the concept works perfectly well and is particularly suited to being ambidextrous, it can sometimes be difficult to make speedy reloads if you’re constantly training with push-button magazine releases. The VP9SK has been upgraded to the VP9SKB (B for button) which features a push-button release better suited to what you would normally encounter in the American pistol market.

Features of the VP9SK-B

• Ergonomic, adjustable grip – The adaptable grip frame allows you to interchange both backstraps and grip panels in 27 unique configurations to fit your hand.

• Three magazine options – VP9SK models now ship with a 13-round extended magazine and a 10-round magazine with two different base pads.

• Best-in-class trigger – The VP trigger surpasses those found on competitors. It has a short, light take-up with a solid, single action type break followed by a short positive reset.

If these VP9 upgrades are any indication of where H&K USA is headed in the future, then you can count me as optimistic for the future.
