SIG Sauer came out for Shot Show swinging with their new Cross rifle and P210 Carry option. In recent years, SIG has been bringing back the P210 in different variations whether its the Target, Standard or Carry size. The new Cross rifle is another example of SIG stepping out and going in a different direction than previously as well. There’s some interesting features that make the Cross a contender, not only for the precision tactical market, but for the hunting market as well.  Lets jump into the the new Cross rifle and SIG P210.

Cross Rifle

The SIG Sauer Cross rifle is something of a hybrid that bridges the gap between the traditional hunting rifle and a precision rifle. Over the last few years, there has been an increase in lightweight chassis bolt actions that serve a precision purpose without weighing as much as a ship anchor. The Cross rifle will be offered in a variety of lengths and calibers.The Cross will be offered in in 308 WIN, 277 FURY, and 6.5 Creedmoor.

All of the rifles will be offered in either 16″ or 18″ barrels with longer replacement barrels down the road. The 6.5 Creedmoor will be available with a 24″ barrel for longer range shooting but isn’t available at launch yet. The beauty of the Cross is the fact it has a barrel nut similar to an AR, so swapping to longer or shorter barrels is much easier than a traditional bolt action rifle. All of the Cross barrels are stainless steel and come with a 5 round polymer AICS magazine. SIG decided to use AICS magazines that have an extensive aftermarket community with a variety of options for size and manufacturer. Every Cross will come with a skeletonized precision stock as standard that can be folded for packing convenience. The Cross also comes with a two stage precision trigger and an M-LOK hand guard to attach bipods and other accessories.

SIG P210 Carry

In 2017, SIG decided to bring back the legendary P210 handgun with a target variant. Fast forward three years and now we have the standard model as well as the Carry model which was introduced at this years Shot Show. The gun takes the best features of the full size P210 and puts it into a smaller package. The large manual safety and magazine release are a breeze to activate for a right hand shooter. The P210 Carry feels like a smaller version or the original, but groups and shoots at distance like its still a full size pistol.

I was extremely surprised with how well the handgun grouped despite being smaller than other handguns out there. Honestly,  I don’t think this will be the last of the P210 family, especially after Gray Guns released a collaborate project they did with Bruiser Industries. I may be wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we start to see SIG start to modernize this iconic firearm over time. Let me know what you guys think of the SIG’s releases in the comments below.
