[SHOT 2020] Torrent Loading Systems RLS-1

Have you ever wanted to finally engage your dual-pistol wielding, one-handed reloading, Lara Croft cosplay? An interesting product that made it to full booth status (from the popup preview area last year) is the Torrent Loading System.

    [SHOT 2020] Torrent Loading System

It is a box, a little wider than a dual magazine pouch, that securely holds up to three magazines and feeds them to you in a manner that allows you to reload one-handed. The main advantage is that it will enable reloading in confined spaces, or when you may be down to one hand for some reason.

The RLS-1 has a hood locking system that will prevent the loss of a magazine during “parachuting, jumping, diving, fast-roping, rappelling, running, swimming, or aggressive operations.” It also has a fail-safe system allowing you to access the magazines if one of the two moving parts has an issue.

It does require a replacement base plate for your magazines (it comes with several when you order). It supports “35+ current weapons platforms to include Sig Sauer, Glock, Beretta, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory and various other magazine systems utilizing .380 ACP, 9 mm, .357 SIG and .40 S&W caliber ammunition”.

The system can be mounted (on either side) to nearly any rigid surface, including belt mounts, vehicles, etc. It also can accept mounts to itself, so you could, for instance, mount a holster to it, reducing the overall used belt real-estate. An added feature is that you can use the body to rack the slide if needed.

The Torrent Loading System can be rotated at any angle to accommodate the individual user.

I think the device is interesting, though I was challenged to make it work in the two minutes I played with it. With some more time on my own rig, I think it would have been easier to learn–this is not a knock on the product at all–the demo one was already set up, and I needed it rotated a smidge.

The following video demonstrates its use.
