Seekins Precision has added another rifle to their HAVAK family of bolt-action rifles. The new rifle is called HAVAK ELEMENT. It is built to be a lightweight hunting rifle and to achieve the goal they designed a hybrid action with a use of aluminum in places where you don’t really need steel and where the use of aluminum won’t compromise the strength of the action and reliability of the rifle. The result is a 5.5 lb rifle (with 21″ barrel, chambered in 6.5PRC).

Particularly, the receiver of HAVAK ELEMENT is machined out of billet 7075 aluminum with a steel insert in the front ring where the lockup of the action is accomplished. Another aluminum part is the bolt body. While the bolt head that actually locks into the locking recesses has to be steel, the bolt body can be safely made of aluminum. The idea of combining steel and aluminum parts is inspired by the venerable AR-15/M-16 design except this concept is now adapted for a bolt-action rifle.

The Seekins Precision HAVAK ELEMENT rifle comes with a 21″ spiral fluted barrel of Seekins Mountain Hunter profile and with a threaded muzzle (5/8-24 thread pitch). The action is hand bedded into the company’s carbon composite stock. The receiver has an integrated recoil lug, bubble level and 20 MOA top Picatinny rail. The rifles come with single-stage Timney Elite Hunter triggers factory set at  2.5lb break. Currently, this rifle is available only in 6.5 PRC caliber option. In this caliber, it has a three-round magazine capacity. The detachable box magazine is made of carbon fiber.

The bolt of HAVAK ELEMENT rifle has 4 locking lugs and a 90-degree throw. Apparently, the primary extraction camming surfaces are built into the locking lugs/recesses as opposed to being on the rear receiver ring as seen in the majority of actions. Just like the receiver, the full diameter spiral fluted bolt body is also made of 7075 aluminum and has a hard coat anodized finish. The extractor is of an AR design and the bolt handle knob is removable.
