Simo Häyhä, the sniper from Finland, nicknamed “White Death” by the Russians during 1939–40 Winter War is the subject in this Photo Of The Day.

According to Wikipedia, he is believed to have killed over 500 enemy soldiers during the 1939–40 Winter War. This is the highest number of sniper kills in any major war.

Some Finnish trucker painted his truck as a contribution to Simo Häyhä.

“Belaja Smert” (= White Death” in Russian).

Below you can see a hint of the Finnish-produced M/28-30 rifle, a variant of the Mosin–Nagant.

I think this vehicle should avoid all transports into Russia, or there will be trouble.

If you like Heavy Metal you may enjoy Sabaton and their song “White Death”. Regardless of your taste in music, check out the lyrics in the video below.

The photos come from Cold Skills, used with permission. Thanks for letting us share them.
