The Tactical Application Rail for SIG P365 pistols is an accessory made by a company called Six Axis Development. It is designed to convert the proprietary SIG P365 rail into a standard 1913 Picatinny rail section. The conversion makes this handgun compatible with a wide variety of accessories (lights, lasers etc.) that are designed for the Picatinny rail.

The Tactical Application Rail is a 3D printed part and has a two-piece design. It is a drop-in accessory with a simple installation process not requiring any permanent modifications to the weapon or use of special tools. In order to install it all you need is to loosen the hex screw that holds the two parts together, clamp the rail adapter onto the SIG P365 rail and tighten the screw to fix it in place.

Interestingly, if you want the conversion rail to come out when you remove the accessory attached to it, then you can install it without the screw by just clamping it onto the P365 rail and letting the installed light or laser to hold it in place. According to Brad Hellyar, the inventor of this accessory and owner of the Six Axis Development LLC, this screwless configuration is a little bit more affordable and it is mainly meant to be used with the MantisX training system. He does not recommend the version without the hardware for a concealed carry use.

You can watch the installation process and the trick of installing it without the screw in the video embedded below.

On their website, they mention that the Tactical Application Rail is compatible with MantisX training system and Viridian C-Series compact pistol lights and lasers. These are the accessories that the company has tested the Tactical Application Rail with that’s why they specifically mention them. With its three Picatinny rail slots, this rail conversion will work with many other Picatinny rail compatible accessories as soon as their rail engagement screw is located rearward enough to be able to engage one of the three slots.

Six Axis Development SIG P365 Tactical Application Rail is available on the company’s website at an MSRP of $34.99. The version without the hardware has a price tag of $29.61 and it can be purchased directly from the Shapeways website where the 3D printing of this accessory is outsourced.
