It was back on January 22nd that Berger Bullets announced they would be absorbing Applied Ballistics Munitions (ABM) and creating Berger Ammunition. This re-branding of ABM to Berger Ammunition coupled with a move to Mesa, Arizona has been exciting times for the company. This gives Berger the ability to do something new by finally making boxed ammunition. The transition also positions their bullet-making and ammunition manufacturing under the same roof to streamline the process.

With the new line of Match-Grade Berger Ammunition there will be three series in which to buy ammo: Hunting, Target and Tactical. Just like their lines of bullets you will see a similar series throughout their ammunition.

The line of Target bullets, and now their ammunition, has always been Berger’s core competency. Walt Berger, the founder of Berger Bullets, was disheartened by the lack of availability for competition bullets and was driven to create his own. This not only spawned the company we see today, but it spurred all of their other lines of bullets as well by purposefully matching quality to an intended application. The secret sauce behind the Hunting tips Berger Bullets will be applying to their similarly named Hunting ammunition is a sharp nose profile and a thin jacket. This delays expansion from occurring until a bullet has penetrated 2” – 3” into tissue. This improves hydrostatic shock, the resulting wound cavity and leads to more humanely harvested animals. The Tactical line of ammunition blends the properties from the previous two by being superbly accurate with the ability to produce lethal ballistic performance. The bullets in this ammo have a thicker jacket to withstand more abusive conditions and are engineered to feed well from magazines of varying material makeup.
