SHOT SHOW SNEAK PEEK: Silencer Saturday – #3

Welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday. In the third installment of everything that is quiet, we will focus on a SHOT Show Sneak Peek since TFB is currently headed to Las Vegas for the biggest industry show of the year. We have a few hints of new releases, but for the most part I’d like to hear what you’d like to see covered. Drop me a note in the comments section below.

Not to ruin the suprise, but TFB’s Erik B. will report on Magpul’s new suppressor cover on Monday. We also discussed it earlier this year after stumbling on a patent application and the associated diagrams. While the design is certainly innovative, the near 10 ounce weight has me scratching my head. We’ll get some hands on time this coming week and report back.

Yankee Hill Machine is the king of affordable suppression. Adding to last year’s Turbo 5.56mm, they are announcing the Resonator, a .30 caliber QD silencer with an MSRP of $630. Which should put street prices somewhere around $550. Very nice.

YHM’s new .30 caliber sound suppressor, the RESONATOR, was created to provide the shooting enthusiast a quiet, lightweight and cost effective suppressor. Capable of being used on multiple calibers and host weapons. The RESONATOR can be used on rifle calibers ranging from .17 HMR through 300 RUM making it a great choice for all shooters. Like the Turbo®, the Resonator uses a tubeless design which consists of heat treated 17-4 stainless steel and a heat treated 718 Inconel blast baffle which allows the suppressor to be full auto rated and designed for rigorous use. Includes YHM-4302 Q.D. Mount of your choice.

Sound Pressure levels are as follows:
    20″ Remington 700 shooting 147 grain measured 135Db
    16″ 6.8mm AR-15 shooting 110 grain measured 132.5Db
    14.5″ 5.56mm AR-15 shooting 55 grain measured 132Db

These suppressors will start shipping to Dealers in the 2nd quarter of 2018!

Check out Suppressed Nation showing off The Armory, LLC’s suppressed Barrett .50BMG.

And also testing the Discreet Ballistics “Pop Stop” first round pop eliminator.

Thompson Machine returns this week with a very interesting combination. Here’s a Bond Arms Bullpup 9 with an unconventional quick detach system and a K-sized silencer. I definitely want a closer look at this magic. Standby for more information as soon as I make my way to the Thompson booth.

Lastly, I thought this GSL Suppressors manufacturing video was informative.

    See you next week.
