Real Avid Introduces “Gun Boss” AK47 Cleaning Kit

AK owners often lament that AR’s get all the attention and love. With the customer base orders of magnitude larger for the AR, I can see that as a true statement. While picatinny rails and the various aftermarket modular attachment systems have opened up the AK platform, there are plenty of other items that just don’t get the same attention, like cleaning kits.

Yes, there are kits provided with most weapons, but the com-bloc field kits just aren’t the perfect set of tools (most US service members would agree that the issued kits always left something to be desired, especially for cleaning caked carbon). Out to fix this is Real Avid, known for their various multi-tools (of which I reviewed one previously).

The latest offering, the “Gun Boss” AK cleaning kit is designed from the ground up for scrubbing the Kalashnikov pattern weapon clean (A clean AK? Blasphemy!). For those willing to take the time, the kit features modular tools that will get the weapon clean. Tools include:

    • 6 THREADED STEEL RODS WITH DURABLE BLACK E-COATING AND SWIVEL TIP COMBINE TO FORM A 28.5” ROD
    • T-HANDLE
    • 7.62MM BORE BRUSH
    • GAS TUBE NYLON BRUSH
    • GAS TUE MOP
    • NYLON SLOTTED TIP
    • AK47 DRIFT PIN PUNCH WITH GAS PORT SCRAPER TIP
    • BORE ILLUMINATOR / SAFETY FLAG
    • CHAMBER BRUSH
    • COMPACT AK47 CARBON SCRAPER
    • 50-1.5” X 3” CLEANING PATCHES

The best one of the bunch? The AK47 Scraper Tool. I have one of Real Avid’s offerings for the AR-15 and swear by it. It is the piece that has been missing from cleaning kits for 50+ years!

    • PISTON CIRCUMFERENCE
