CZ Scorpion Evo3 Manufacturing Video

Scorpion

Here is a video from a Discovery Channel documentary. I posted a similar video about the P09 pistol. Well here is another one but this time about the CZ Scorpion Evo3. The video has the same formula as the P09 video. They show the barrel manufacturing process then move onto assembly. They even throw in a segue video clip of the siege on the Iranian Embassy in London, England. Again Discovery Channel throws in information that has nothing to do with the firearm being discussed. That siege was on April 30, 1980. 20 years before the Scorpion Evo 3 was even conceptualized. So ignoring that section the end is rather interesting seeing the torture testing of the weapon in water submersion and mud.

You learn something new every day. I had no idea that stock gun barrels were cured outside. Love the completely unrelated British footage from 1980 with no attempt to explain the EVO’s absence in that event but that it can fulfill that role.

    • JumpIf NotZero

“Cured” is not at all the correct word. Something lost in translation there.

De-stressing… Which I think is different in meaning than distressing.

What the hell is that “letting the steel cure on the parking lot” stupidity ??

I’m pretty sure the people at CZ cringed when they heard that one.

    • hking

Thats an actual thing they do, they claim undergoing temp changes outside and oxidation helps the barrel steel “set in” or something, there was another video about it awhile back.

      • JumpIf NotZero

Exactly. This is one of those weird black magic things that does actually do something. You can get the same effect of removing internal stresses with temper and crypotteatment… But those cost money – you know what’s free? Letting a pallet of steel sit in the parking lot.

They’re also hammer forging so this becomes less important IMO than say cut rifling, but all the same. Shows they actually care about the product.

I admit I laughed at a couple points during this. I remember the good old days when discovery didn’t talk out their 4th point of contact. Man, discovery channel was my jam when I was a kid

… What kind of shooting stance are you using?!?

  • Friend of Tibet

Dafuq is that SAS footage for? out of no where “…the most successful rescue op of ALLL TIMEEE!!!” then switch back to EVO assembly…..WTF?!

    • DW

That even caused the rise of popularity of modern smg, and yes they forgot to put explanation in.

      • Joshua

Whats interesting is how SoF and SF are moving away from handgun caliber SMGs in favor of short barrel rifle caliber weapons like the Mk18.

    • Nicholas C

Right? It’s not just me. Talk about poor editing. However I feel that maybe it was a directorial/producer decision.

Hey lets get some historical context!

      Um . . . we don’t have one for the Scorpion Evo3.

Who cares!? Just throw something in there about SMGs.

Edited for Chinese TV, arts are missing before and after.

    1980???

Handled semi pistol version. The folks I have talked to give it mixed reviews at least those who have shoot them. Maybe if you have an itch for a sub gun it might be a good start I don’t know. The video sure didn’t help one way or the other.

Ah, someone was growing Laugo Arm’s Facebook I see! How about the CAD pictures of the Scorpion in 45acp next 😉

    • USMC03Vet

      .45acp is happening?

      • Malthrak

There was a digital mockup of what one might look like but nothing indicating it was anything more than a CAD test model, and that was 6 months ago.

      • John

I’d like to see these get made

  • Steve

They forgot to show the guys on the line measuring out exactly 1 qt of threadlocker for each and every barrel nut…

    • Nicholas C

      Truth

  • MrEllis

Weirdly chopped up clip, doesn’t matter had CZ. Thanks for sharing.

  • USMC03Vet

Wheel barrel full of mud money shot!

  • Joe Schmo

Did anyone else notice that the name of the uploader is ButtHoleInspection?

  • SP mclaughlin

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the video is from some Asian country.

  • Leo

How is that Iraninan Ambassy related to this gun?
