Strange Tank Tests

Saw this on U.S. Army WTF moments on Facebook. The post says “The ultimate engineering test in Germany” The video clip is short. It shows a soldier pouring a beer and placing that beer on a special table mounted to the muzzle of the barrel. Then the tank is seen rolling at high speed and the barrel appears to be stabilized by the fact that it does not spill the beer.

Here is another strange test supposedly from the Netherlands. It is a Leopard tank braking behind a group of people. Considering their reaction, I think they did not know about this “test”. At least the tank barrel is pointed in a safe direction.

    Black Tie, brown shorts.

It really looks as if they actually did know about the test. You can see them cheering its success after the tank has come to a full stop. Did you write that just to cause a reaction?

    • Nicholas Chen

I guess I saw something different. Some of the reaction seemed like surprise. Rather than elation.

If you knew a tank was going to brake a few feets away from your back, you’d probably flinvh a bit too. I know I would.

        • Giolli Joker

To boost my confidence I would place myself front row and in the middle… I everything goes south I have good chances of being slammed to the ground by the guy behind me and have the tank rolling above me without touching me… 😛

I would think having them face the tank and seeing it would be better. If they were confident they’d stay put if not they’d run away. Idk. I don’t know what the purpose of the video was for.

I feel like you would here that thing barreling down the road at you. Makes me think they knew as well.

  • MrSatyre

From what I learned about this video when I saw it a year or two ago, it’s a combined shot, so the guys in suits weren’t there when the tank rolled in.

Where can I get one of those big beer mugs?

    • honsch

Thats not a big mug, it´s a standard size mug.

      • Pat Boyle

I have a set of large thick walled beer mugs that I keep in my freezer. Each mug holds a normal (12 0z) bottle of beer. But I have lately become fond of the big 21 or 22 oz. beer bottles that are filled with higher alcohol content micro-brewery beer. I guess I’m looking for a really big beer mug. Maybe this isn’t it. Maybe no one makes such a thing.

    • CrankyFool

I’m sick and tired of people buying into the liberal media myths that these beer mugs are somehow “big.” That’s a standard-capacity beer mug, damn it!

Something tells me that these were the brake system enginners

  • smitty26

It is a simple way to test the engineers who are working on the breaks.
I was a diving engineer at SOTEC and I always go out diving with the specops.
The same with the guy who packed the parachutes.
Just to make sure we stay sharp on our jobs.

I was thinking of exactly that video when I saw the headline.

WOW Awesome suspension and stabilization system on the tank. This allows for more accurate round placement and tank control…ARMOR UP!
