Sent in is a concept mock up for a basic ‘easily made’ compact machine pistol. The design outwardly is a near copy of the Armenian K6-92 and early Chechen made ‘Borz’ derivatives. All components inside the receiver are laminated from square tubing with a portion of the bolt mass being an external plate which doubles as a cocking handle. The prototype was made as a display dummy only for obvious legal reasons.

Those interested in such theoretical weaponry and how it could be theoretically constructed want to look at the PDF below:

Obviously presented and intended for academic study purposes in the name of science only.

It never fails to depress me that we can’t build open-bolt mag fed guns. Reworking to closed bolt operation is so annoying.

    • eriky

just cut the bolt in half.
put a light recessed spring in between the two halfs.
and attach a long firing pin to the back half.
and BAM you got yourself a closed bolt gun.

Much, much easier said than done. It’s very difficult to drill the hole for the firing pin and to keep it from wandering. Even drilling a small pilot hole first and then enlarging. A lathe is really the way to do it, but I have no room for one at the moment.

Installing semi-auto triggers is not that easy in many cases. If you are working from a pre-existing design, no space is alotted for the fcg and you either have to make it look funky work in something. Not only that, but you then have to fine tune it all to actually work. Is the bolt height set properly relative to hammer height? Will you get full reset? Will the disconnector catch the hammer? Can the bolt clear the fcg?

Simple in theory, yes. Not in practice. Thus the reason I have a PPS-43 that is still not quite finished. I am tired of messing with it.

I’m not talking about making it hammer fired. I’m talking about using the back half of the bolt kind of like a striker. So you can still use the same sear as in the original drawings you just have to add a disconnect in the form of a little bump on the bolt.

and the semi-automatic trigger is also quit easy only hard to explain in text.

      • kilroy

Have seen semi auto only Uzi”s in 1980 that worked that way.(split bold )Yes it is simple and it worked ok.If you make an open bold smg with heavy bold and strong spring the rate off fire will be low.Than you can easy play with the trigger and fire single shots.

Once again, the possessive form of it is its, no apostrophe. It’s is a contraction of it is.
