Leupold has recently redesigned their Gold Ring spotting scope in the 12-40x60mm HD and the 20-80x60mm models.
Featuring new armor, the Gold Ring spotting scope is Leupold rugged. And with the addition of the MOA-based Impact reticle, the spotter is now perfectly matched to the adjustments on your MOA scope. These matched adjustments make sighting in fast, ranging targets easy and for improved communications between the shooter and the guide or spotter.
I’m currently on a Leupold kick with my optics, and I am in the market for a good spotting scope. The scope has a minute-of-angle based grid set in the lower half of the viewing field as well as mil-dots. The benefit if you pair their spotting scope with one of their rifle scopes is that they have matching adjustments which should, in theory, make sighting in a simple, two-shot process. Fire a shot, measure the adjustment using the reticle gradations, dial in the adjustment and fire the second to confirm.
