5.11 Tactical Duty Kilts – Back Again

Capture

At the risk of selling out all the kilts that I want to have and keep (just bought 2), I wanted to pass along word that the rare 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilts are back live on 5.11’s website. I’m an avid aficionado of the kilt, suffering from dampness during robust shooting activities. These solve those issues nicely but my shooting team bemoans anytime I go prone.

The kilts are available in Brown, Black, Multicam, Tundra, OD, and Khaki. Sizing ranges from pipsqueak (28 waist) to manly-man (54) across all the colors. My personal favorite line from the description:

  • 5.11 Sport Boxer Briefs available separately, but not required

Its not all fun and games. Proceeds from the kilts will go to charities including the FBI Academy Association. Better hurry, these are typically only available for a limited time. If you look for one off-season, eBay had them over $260!

    Oh, god, why?

  • Nebelwerfer

I guess “tactical duty kilt” sounds cooler than “shooting skirt”…

  • Don Ward

Living in Ground Zero of the Utili-Kilt movement up here in Seattle, the only thing I have to say is “No”.

Oh the things I’ve seen that can never be unseen.

    • Swarf

I remember seeing the Utilikilt folks desperately hawking at the Fremont market 10 years ago.

I certainly don’t begrudge them their success, but it takes a certain kind of man to pull off a skirt, and 96% of the skirt wearers aren’t that guy.

  • Fruitbat44

I’m just checking that this isn’t April the first . . . no.
    OMG!

  • Phillip Cooper

    Ordering mine now.

Yeah, none of you can carry it off. ;P

  • Riot

    As a Scotsman

No, no, do not drag the kilt into your “tactical” nonsense
    (oh gods the mall ninjas…..)

  • Green Hell

Can’t wait to see kilts and skirts to finaly become a mainstream men’s fashion. I mean, judging by an anotomy it makes much more sence in terms of health and comfort to wear skirts for men and pants for women. When did we go wrong in this?

    • Kevin Riley

When I was in Jr. High, we did a play called, “If Boys wore skirts”. I’m glad that I was on the stage crew rather than being one of the actors.

    • RealitiCzech

When men got in the habit of putting their feet up. And going commando.

    • David Sharpe

They’re nice and brezzy in the summer and in the winter they trap the heat, at least wool ones do.

  • Bill

I don’t see many women on the range in skirts. Nor do I want to be there the first time a piece of hot brass goes up a guys’ kilt.

Don’t they have ticks, chiggers, and poisonous plants in Scotland? I’m holding out for a loincloth, cause at least they secure the block and tackle.

    • Swarf

I’m trying to picture the firing position that allows hot brass up your dude skirt.

      Okay, now I’m trying to un-picture it…

  • Anomanom

Just ordered one. Now i have to shave my legs.

  • Will

As a Scotsman let me reassure you…THIS IS NOT A KILT!!!!
    IT IS A SKIRT!!!!
Calling it a kilt just makes it cool and acceptable.
But, HEY, if it trips your trigger……

    • David Sharpe

      Kilt means skirt…

  • Blake

Uhm, yer a month late fer April fool’s…

  • Grindstone50k

Does it come with a tactical fedora?

  • Southpaw89

Could not keep a straight face, this made my day.

  • Marcus D.

I won’t be caught dead in a pair of shorts, so this is way off my radar (although I am an avid 5.11 fan), and I am sure for pretty much everyone else within a hundred miles of here.

  • Shaun Miller

Until you’ve worn one, you should all keep yer ignorant gobs, shut. Most comfortable piece of clothing I’ve ever worn. Ya, bunch of sweaty balled, pant wearin cowards. 😉

    • Cymond

      Amen!
Except sitting. I have about 30 pounds, and they tend to push out more when I sit. It makes any waist band uncomfortable, but extra if it’s super wide, inflexible, or unstretchable.

Still, for standing and walking, a kilt is unrivaled. After wearing one for the first time, I seriously have to wonder why so many women wear pants so often when they have a socially acceptable garment that is SO comfortable.

Nope, bugs can crawl up a kilt.
let’s not even discuss Saw briars!

  • ghost

I draw the line at wearing panty hose.
