Hopper Spit

Hopper Spit

If you are looking for a way to provide long-term rust resistance to your guns, Birchwood Casey has Hopper Spit for you.

There are a lot of short- and long-term corrosion tests on the internet. Some of the most expensive brands don’t fare much better than some of the cheap brands. How Hopper Spit will fare is anyone’s guess. However, the pricing doesn’t look astronomical so it may be a good buy.

From Birchwood Casey:

Hopper Spit™ from Birchwood Casey® was designed to provide extreme long-term rust and corrosion protection for firearms.

Hopper Spit is specifically formulated to protect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the harsh effects of corrosive conditions and long-term storage. Hopper Spit significantly outlasted the competition in laboratory testing that used salt spray to attack metal surfaces.

When applied as directed, Hopper Spit provides a protective finish that ensures long-term protection. It also quickly and easily cleans off when it’s time to put your firearm back into service.

Hopper Spit is available in an 11 oz. can for a suggested retail price of $14.40.

Visit the Birchwood Casey website at www.birchwoodcasey.com, write to 7887 Fuller Road, Ste. 100, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 or call 800-746-6862 for more information.

While I agree the solvent is excellent, their oil is a bit too light for long-term storage.

This stuff goes on nice. Used it late season duck hunting near the Gulf and kept the rust away on my 870 express.

  • Interesting. Might be worth a try!

Should go well with Frog Lube, which does a great job at keeping my frogs lubricated.

    Hopper Spit?

Not sure if I can swallow this one.

Get it? It’s funny because *snuff, grrrgggle*

So is their Barricade product now defunct? That works well for storage items.

I’d be happy to see a modern replacement to cosmoline.

    Boeshield T9. Works a treat.

Dunno, seems like a dumb name. Guess maybe it sets it apart in a crowded market. I’d rather avoid the stupid marketing gimmicks.
