Head Down Products AR and Glock

Down at the Big 3 East, Head Down Products showed off their firearms.

Their custom Glock is rather impressive for package you get. It retails for $799.

That is $799 for the entire Glock. Not $799 for the custom work. If you send your Glock to them, they charge $400 for the custom work.GLOCK_RX1

I really like their front slide serrations. It is like traditional checkering you would find on wood forearms on shotguns.

Here is a closer look from VSO Gun Channel.

Their BIllet AR is called the Triton.

To each their own, for sure. For me it’s just too much and seems to go way beyond functionality.

Next thing you know they’ll do something crazy like start naming the parts of the gun like “grip zone”, etc…it’s all downhill from there.

    • Hank T.

I’m confused. Can you enlarge upon your comment “way beyond functionality?”

      • echelon

I just meant that the slide cuts go beyond just having a functional purpose and get into an aesthetic “artsy” look and feel. I would also argue the same about the grip stippling, although it’s less so.

And I’m certainly not begrudging anyone if they do like this sort of thing. All I’m saying is you could easily make some front cocking serrations that look more akin to the rear ones and you could do more straight forward porting holes on the top, etc. And to me that would be more of a minimalist – just do enough to get the job done, kind of thing that I would find more preferable.

I refuse to buy an xd now. I hate the “grip zone”. They need to keep stupid crap like than in their advertising, not actually on the weapon. Next their mags will be labelled bullet zone and the top of the slide will say sight zone. Trigger guard is finger zone.

      • Grindstone50k

        Muzzle is “bang zone”

  • Slim934

….aren’t Glock slides already Salt Bath Nitride finished?

    • D.B. Patrol

They are, just not when you cut into them, exposing unfinished surfaces.

      • Slim934

Ahhhh yes, you’d have to do that after cutting into them. OK that makes more sense thanks.

  • mikie

That is a great looking Glock!

Can you please tell me where I can find a Gen 4 G17 for 300?? I will buy one RIGHT MEOW.

    • Andrew

      I think its refurb’d.

  • JQPub

I love the cut trigger guard. Wonder if i can do this myself. I hate shipping handguns.
The front site is awesome. That’s the only other mod I’d do on my G19 honestly.
Their prices are pretty awesome. If I was to buy over again, I’d consider their build.

I wonder if opening up that much of the slide is just asking for debris, mud and trash to get in there. Of course, it would make it easier to get out, but I’m not sure I’d literally open the door to dust and dirt like that, particularly on a working gun known for it’s reliability in all kinds of conditions. It looks “good,” I guess, but you aren’t removing that much weight from an already light gun. Love the front serrations, I’m a chronic chamber-checker.

  • Alucard

For $799 I’d rather buy a Ruger 1911 and some .45 acp ammo with it.

  • Joshua

Lifetime warranty is stupid in a rifle. If you actually use it you’re going to break it and I guarantee they won’t replace your bolt ever 10,000 rounds.

  • NotoriousAPP

Will never do business with these guys again. They sent me two lower parts kits, both had parts missing. I tried several times to get them to send the missing parts but they would not.

…one kit was missing the grip…..how do you send a kit out with a large piece like that missing?
