Meopta Optics – SHOT Show Optic Preview

Meopta has big plan for the US market. That was what I have been told during my meeting with them at SHOT 2015. Meopta makes their optics in both their smaller US factory in the New York State and their main facility in the Czech Republic.

New for 2015 is the HD lens binocular models in both their American made MeoPro line and the European made MeoStar line. The top two are the U.S. built 10x32mm and 8x42mm MeoPro HD. The bottom one is the Czech build big 12x50mm MeoStar HD and there’s also an even larger 15x56mm MeoStar HD. German Schott HD glass is used in both the American made and the European made models.

Meostar has also expanded their MeoStar R2 line of 6 fold magnification rifle scopes . The 1.7-10x40mm and the 2-12x50mm are the new additions to the existing MeoStar R2 1-6x24mm RD model. I have been testing their MeoStar R2 1-6x24mm model with the Aero Precision mount and scope is an impressive optic.

The Meopta R2 line are really hunting scopes but I have good luck using the 1-6x24mm model on both AR15 and AR10 tactical style rifles. The 1-6x24mm and the two bigger new models all feature daylight visible reticle illumination and digital power management technology.

Fishing lures are designed to catch fishermen, not fish.
If your a 3 gun competitor, or shooting in a sunny environment a x24 is adequate otherwise your better off w/x40

Not a real 3-Gunner here but let talk about technical detail:
      1) 40mm objective will be heavier
      2) how many 40mm scope offers true 1x
      3) size of the objective doesn’t matter if it uses crap glass and coating
      4) The Meopta is probably brighter than the average 1-4x/1-6x
