12 Ga Confetti Ammo

G12-033

Tactical Fan Boy posted this up. Firequest has a 12 Ga round that is loaded with powder and confetti.

This ammo is for theatrics and serious amusement! The shell is packed with powder and colored confetti. When shot, it will make a large circle in the air between 10 and 15 feet in diameter. The paper then blows away in the wind. Great for parties and plain old fashioned fun! This is a spectacular round and must be seen to believe. 2&3/4″ round.

They come in packs of 3 or a box of 25. You can find them on their website.

This is the only video I could find, seems underwhelming.

    THIS IS A GREAT IDEA

  • jeff k

problem is , you cant get enough confetti in that little shell to make it worth while

  • gunslinger

replace the rice at a shotgun wedding?

  • claymore

Terrible idea mixing fun and firearms. A mistake waiting to happen.

    • lucusloc

What mistake? Unless you are stupid enough to break one of the 4 rules I see no problem with this. The 4 rules apply no matter what kind of ammo you are using.

      • claymore

AH dude just maybe someone doesn’t know about these rounds like a kid then finds other rounds that look similar and shoots their friends with real rounds.

        • lucusloc

Is that a serious reply or snark? Because there is so much wrong with that statement I do not know where to begin. . .

I am going to assume snark, and by extension that the first comment was snark and i just didn’t catch it.

          • claymore

            Truth.

          • lucusloc

Ok good, you had me worried 🙂
Congrats on trolling anonymous below as well. You had the perfect blend of simplicity and believability.

These rounds are based on the idea of deliberately violating at least two of the rules: Assume all firearms are loaded; and never point a gun at anything you aren’t willing to destroy.
More specifically dangerous is that the ammo will be marketed mostly to ignorant fools who do not realize NO 12 ga ammo is harmless.

        • lucusloc

How do these rounds violate any of the rules? Follow all of the same rules you use for bird shot and there are no problems.

          • Tom Currie

The rounds themselves don’t violate any of the rules of gun handling (the rounds don’t handle the gun!), but the premise of these rounds is that the user should be using the gun as a plaything. Once you make a gun into a toy, all the rules go out the window.

          • lucusloc

So don’t have fun with a firearm, got it.

      • john huscio

You could misplace your confetti rounds…next thing you know, your blasting dragons breath at your kid’s birthday party….

        • lucusloc

Lol, part of being safe is knowing what your are shooting.

All the argument against this round so far would also invalidate having bird shot and slugs in the same chambering, because safe shooting with bird shot is different than safe handling with slugs (shooting birdshot into the air is fine, as it does not travel far and does not come down with very much energy. Slugs shot into the air can still do significant damage when they come back down, and travel significantly farther than shot).

Since no one is crying about slugs and bird shot I can only assume the logic used against this round is “I don’t like this and someone could do something stupid, so therefor this must be bad”

  • DIR911911 .

going to make those surprise birthday parties a lot more exiting, especially when everyone is wearing ski masks and shotguns 🙂 . . . . what could possibly go wrong?

Home defense just got a lot more festive

If you live in a really bad neighborhood…

“Congradulations! You’re the 100th burglar to break into my house!”

  • Ron Fox

I can’t wait to let one of my friends shoot me in the back with one of these!

Is this what the Joker uses when he robs a bank?

  • Dr Sick

    What could possibly go wrong…

  • Ken

Essentially one of those little party poppers packaged into a shotgun shell.

  • I doubt it, it appears to be just the primer.

  • Blake

In some states, laws are screwed up enough that any fireworks that leave the ground are illegal, but “bird bomb” shotgun rounds that do pretty much the same thing are not (as legally they’re not classified as “fireworks”). Technically you can get a box of them & shoot them to your heart’s content at your July 4th bbq.

Just because something is legal doesn’t make it a good idea…

  • Tom Currie

How long before some idiot buys this over-priced toy trash, thinks it is cute and harmless, and fires it at someone instead of up in the air?

  • Tom Currie

Why would anyone with enough sense to even have heard of the four rules ever want to play with a gun — which is all that this crap is for.
