Ares Armor Kydex Remora Speed (Pump) Shotgun Shell Holder

Ares Armor (yes, that Ares Armor) partnered with a current active duty Marine (Oorah!) to create the “Remora Speed Shotshell Holder” for MOE-equipped pump-action shotguns. The shell holder is set up specifically for MagPul MOE foreends currently manufactured for Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590 shotguns.

The shotshell holder is manufactured out of Kydex and is mounted to the foreend via two screws. When the pump is to the rear, the holder acts as a match-saver, positioning the shells near the ejection port for easy speed loading.

Ares Armor states that the shell holder can be mounted to any shotgun “with a little MacGyvering”, The Remora is available for order now at $39.95 each. Take note, they are made to order and will be shipped anywhere from 2-6 weeks from order confirmation.

39.95 for some bolts and some kydex? Pass

  • ThomasD

Not a bad concept, but the fit and finish looks decidedly unprofessional.

And there are people online who will custom make kydex devices for less.

Either that or get a pawn shop toaster oven and DIY.

Thats what I was thinking, I hope thats just a prototype because it looks like it still needs some finishing.

Has anyone working at ares noticed that it BLOCKS the ejection port?

    • Odeezy Liita

It would eject the shell before the action gets all the way back to the port

    • Laserbait

Not really. The empty shell is ejected far before the slide is retracted all the back, at least on the Mossbergs and Remingtons that I’ve seen.

  • Nimrod

Fairly useless for the great majority of shooters but I wish I’d thought of it.

  • woot

that would actually be perfect for storing a few breaching loads, at the ready to drop in when needed.

Might make pretty good CR-123 and CR-223, Lithium-Ion Battery Holders and Small CO2 Cartridge Holders, too.

  • Bill

Maybe for ammo swaps, switching buck to slugs, but really on the other side of gimmicky for fighting shotguns

  • Evan

i make my own matchsavers for $.25 worth of kydex and a screw.

Is this like, for 3 gun or something? I never understood the +2 thing. Just earmark two rounds on the side saddle and have the side saddle working off of velcro so you can put a new card on. Otherwise you’re building toward a 15lb shotgun
