TFB Announcement

    TFB News

Earlier this year TFB writer Nathan S., who worked in the defense industry, told me he wanted to pursue his dream of working in the gun industry. Even though I knew this might mean I would lose one of my team members, I supported him, as I would any one else on my team. It is not for me to stand in the way of a team member realizing their potential in the industry they love, and if TFB is a stepping stone helping them achieve this, so much the better. In fact, I told Nathan I was happy to be listed as a reference on any job applications.

I am pleased to announce that Nathan has accepted a position within the industry as a Director of Sales, Marketing, and Operations at Faxon Firearms. He will be starting on Monday the 19th.

Nathan has been open and honest during the job finding process. Faxon gave Nathan their blessing to continue blogging on TFB, and I have agreed to keep him on the team. Nobody wants there to be any suggestion of bias. We don’t, you don’t, gun companies (including Faxon) don’t and nor does Nathan. We are taking proactive steps to avoid conflict of interest and keep TFB 100% independent – especially concerning the reviews that you trust.

Nathan will no longer be reviewing or writing about modern sporting rifles (non-hunting semi-automatic rifles) or accessories that compete with products Faxon sells or plans on selling in the future. Instead, he will focus on other shooting accessories, optics, pistols, shotguns and non-semiautomatic rifles.

Before Faxon even advertised the job, Phil White had arranged for Sam C. to do a review on a Faxon rifle. This review, which has yet to go live on TFB, was written without any input from Nathan, and without Sam knowing Nathan had applied for a job at the company. I have no doubts whatsoever that the review is unbiased.

If you have any concerns, please email me: editor@thefirearmblog.com

Below is Nathan’s statement on the new job:

I am excited to start a new role with the incessantly innovative Faxon Firearms.

I must profusely thank TFB, Steve and Phil for their support and the opportunities that TFB has provided (where else do I get paid to play with guns?), The combined experience with the blog and my history in Defense sales was the right “fit” for Faxon.

I am looking forward to being a steward of growth for the Faxon brand and company while continuing the daily coverage here at TFB. While my Reviews responsibility is evolving, I will enjoy publishing often on perspectives from within the industry. An “Ask Me Anything” will certainly be in the cards.

Lastly, and most important of all: thank you to you, our readers! Your support, demand for content, and feedback has been utterly addicting. Without you, this would not have been possible and I look forward to providing the best product (both TFB articles and rifles) I can. Lots of exciting things to come!

    Semper Fidelis,

    Nathanial S.
