.223 Casing Chess Set

From a small company called Old World Collectibles and Creations comes the ultimate in recycled brass.  A chess set made entirely of used .223 brass.  Using both brass and steel cases, it creates a visually striking juxtaposition between the different cases.  From their site, the chessboard with it is available in either wood or a steel version.  For more, see their website at http://www.oldeworldcollectibles.com/

The king and queen remind me of little wooden nutcracker dolls!

Looks like someone is trying for an A in shop class. $300, I’d pass.

    • CA

He could sell it for 50-100.

It’s a lot of work to make these, I’m sure. To me it just looks amateurish, and sharp. Like something you see at a local art fair. Definitely not something I’d drop $300 on. BTW: I do play chess and have more than one set.

I believe making items out of spent shell casings is called “Trench Art.”

Nickel v brass lets see who wins!!

Oddly it reminds me of the title sequence from HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones.’

would like to see with various cartridges for the different pieces.
50cal for king.. 338 queen, etc.

could have a rifle caliber set and pistol set?

Why do people get the chess board wrong so much? Is it too much trouble to look up how it is supposed to be? The lighter colored square goes to the player’s RIGHT, not the darker square. Wood board is wrong, steel board looks correct as near as I can tell.

The guy does so much right with his chessboard, that it’s an act of psychological gymnastics for you to have said something negative about it. And the best you could say about it is that the steel board “looks correct.” You sir, have issues.

Btw, there is nothing wrong with the wood board. The pieces can be rotated.

The only thing that would make this better would be if one side were make from 7.62×39 casings.
