Windham Weaponry Varmint Exterminator Rifles

VEX rifle

At the 2014 SHOT Show, Windham Weaponry introduced the VEX (Varmint Exterminator) Wood Stock line of rifles.  These rifles are designed for long distance accuracy and come with laminated wood furniture.

The Pepper is the first in the series.  It uses the same 20″ stainless steel barrel and matched bolts that are found in the existing VEX series of rifles.  The Pepper swaps out the modern looking furniture for a light and dark gray set of wood furniture for a more traditional hunting look.

The guns are gas impingement guns and run the same as pretty much the same as any AR-15.  The guns ship with a five round magazine, but will accept any standard mags.

  • caliber:  .223 Rem (with Compass Lake Engineering spec chamber)
  • barrel length:  20″, 1:8″ twist
  • overall length:  38 1/8″
  • weight:  8.35 pounds (without magazine)
  • sights:  none, ships with optics riser blocks
  • MSRP:  $1,480

i am really digging the wood furniture

  • Blake

That’s a pretty nice lookin’ rifle.

Personally I think it’d be even better if the receiver was gunmetal grey/titanium/etc. to better match the shade of the wood furniture, rather than the stark black contrast of a standard AR-15 receiver.

Finally you can find a AR you grandpa will like with a Woodstock.

New, from Windham Weaponry, the Fudd-15 hunting rifle.

As someone who has done profesional complex surfacing in 3D, that stock is the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen!

Front to back that is a generic solidworks loft. The people at Windham should hire a real design engineer.

(For most people who don’t know what to look for… See the S-curve transition from the large to small profile, see how it’s all “scrunched up”. Normally you wouldn’t see this but because they used laminate, it’s like having real life zebra striping to see trangency and curvature….. Short story, it looks like crap)
