Saddam Hussein’s Personal Ruger M77 Sold For $48,875.00

When I wrote about the auction of Saddam Hussein’s Ruger M77 last month I said the estimate sale price of $7,000 – $15,000 was to low. At the low end of that estimate even I was considering bidding on the historic and very symbolistic gun. I contacted Rock Island Auction Company and they told me it sold for $48,875. I am not surprised. I am sure it will end up prominently displayed on the wall of a wealthy person’s man cave.

A colleague of mine had a friend who was planning on bidding on it. If he had won it I would have been able to shoot it 🙁

I would have loved to have had that, than again I would love to have 50k to throw at a gun…

If I had 50k to throw at guns, I don’t think that would have made my top 10. Imagine, all flavors of SCARs, REPRs, so many to choose from.

All I have to say is if you have 50k to spend on one rifle you probably have another chunk of money in the bank, like… millions at least.

The gun Saddam liked to wave around at the people he oppressed: $50,000 … plinking Coke Cola cans with it in the USA … priceless 😀

But yea … $7,000 sure, I would be willing to forgo a Barret M82, but $50,000 is far far far out of my price range.

For 7K it would be stupid not to buy.

    What is the caliber?
Also I guess it would have been engraved with the importers mark too?
I hate that on a collectable firearm.
