How to Cerakote An AR-15

Guns n Girls has blogged a tutorial on Cerakoting an AR-15

Many firearm enthusiasts have become bored with just having a plain black rifle or pistol. Even those who have Flat Dark Earth or OD Green are looking for other colors to play around with. That’s where Cerakote comes in. They have a huge selection of colors in both the oven cured and air cured forms. I have been using the air curing Cerakote C-series paints for the past six months with great results and it has been the most durable spray on coating I have used to date.

Years ago, like 1982, I worked for a co. called Nitex in Lakewood, Co. We stripped the guns, dipped them in an electroless nickle solution after bead blasting. simple enough system from Brownels of montazuma, Iowa. and surprisingly they came out terrific. In those days about 50.00 bucks could do a number of guns all in one day. we experimented with colors but I don’t remember the result. As a gunsmith I was impressed. You may consider calling brownels and see if they can suggest ways to get a selection of colors. Suggestion: read the directions carefully! simply a gunsmith tip! have a nice day. mertace45@gmail.com
