FX Verminator Extreme: A suitcase air rifle and crossbow

One of the fun things about SHOT Show is seeing some very unique weapons. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen anything like the Swedish FX Verminator Extreme air gun.

Shown here is the FX Verminator with the arrow barrel, along with an arrow attached.

It’s a convertible air rifle and arrow thrower, where the pellet barrel quickly unscrews for an arrow barrel. They are marketing the arrow component for small to medium size game.

In about 10-12 seconds, you can unscrew one barrel and install a pellet one, so it looks like this:

Shown is the 500mm barrel. A 300mm barrel is another option.

The whole package fits into a normal size suitcase.

Shown are the hard case which holds arrows, a pellet magazine, two barrels, the receiver, the air cylinder, a "shroud extension" which serves as a suppressor, and two scopes, one for use with pellets, the other for arrows.

The FX Verminator is targeting a Spring 2013 release, and can be purchased through Arms of Arizona, who is the importer and distributor in the United States.

Nifty indeed. But I just checked the website: $2500. Ouch.

It’s a high quality product made in a socialist country with very high labor costs, and massive tax, so it would be very difficult for them to reduce the price noticeably without moving production or seriously reducing product quality.

        Socialist?….Sweden? huh!

If you want to shoot in the same way it would be fairly easy to buy yourself a cheap-oh PCP like this and replace the barrel with a thinner tube that would slide into the arrow body: http://www.airgundepot.com/hatsan-bt65wsb-10-shot-pcp–25-caliber-air-rifle.html

yep. saw this weeks ago at their site. I would have declared it a fantastic survival weapon being PCP, except for the stratospheric price. I do know that FX makes top of the line stuff. you certainly will get what you pay for

They have some quirks though, like the bent wire portion of the FX Monsoon safety, or the fact that the spacers in the shroud are made from PVC electrical conduit. I think FX are right up there where it comes to innovation but for sheer build quality somthing like Daystate would score better.

The quoted power for the arrows is fairly low considering the pneumatic powerplant. I suppose it stems from the use of an inner barrel, an alternative arrangement would give more energy but doubtless at the expense of accuracy so it’s probably a good compromise.

the united states realy is not where this will find its market as the concealable case allows eaoupean customers to avoid predjudice
