Chiappa Rhino .357 Mag Revolver finally shipping

The Chiappa Rhino .357 Mag Revolver is finally shipping. Initially the 2″ barrel model will be on sale which will be followed by the 3,4 and 6″ model in the next few months.

2″ barrel model (MRSP: $775)
4″ barrel model (MSRP: $899)

From the press release …

Rhino Revolver has finally cleared all the import requirements and tests for sale in the United States and are now arriving for distribution by MKS Supply, the exclusive marketer for the Rhino.

The Rhino, especially in the 2-inch version is an unusual looking firearm but form really does follow function. The recoil and muzzle flip from hot loads is greatly reduced thanks to the bottom chamber firing position. It just Works! And people who have shot it are amazed by the glass smooth action of this revolver.

  • Finally! I want a 4″ bbl so much. I love unusual looking guns.

  • Slim934

My God the foreign firearms requirements are retarded.

We would get so much more cool stuff if these moron restrictions simply didn’t exist.

  • Redchrome

I always thought the Mateba revolvers with a similar arrangement were very cool. Just a bit out of my price range. These look pretty affordable compared to an S&W.

  • Wolfwood

Will there be a 6″ version without rails in case I need to get my inner Vash the Stampede on?

  • SpudGun

I’ll probably be one of the few posters on this blog who isn’t a big fan of these revolvers. They look incredibly bulky and heavy and to my personal eye, somewhat ugly.

As per the press release’s claim of greatly reduced recoil and muzzle flip – any revolver with a full lug – be it over or under – will greatly reduce muzzle flip and any revolver that has substantial mass, will greatly reduce recoil.

However, these observations will fall on deaf ears as every poster just imagines a Chinese Noodle Seller uttering the words ‘He says you Brade Runner’.

  • Jesse

I can’t wait to read the reviews. I still don’t have a 357 and if this thing is any good I’ll get it for the weird factor.

  • This might make me actually consider buying a revolver.

  • howajo

    sure is ugly.

  • candurandu

Man, that is one ugly gun…

  • FormerHK

I handled these at the 2010 Shot Show, and the double action trigger was very nice. Price wise, its a bit more than I want to spend on a revolver, and make a pre/no-lock S&W possibly a better deal. Not sure how the quality/durability is on the production ones, hopefully, someone here can chime in on how reliable/durable these are.

  • I got to handle and dry fire one at the NRA convention. If the production ones are as good as the one I handled, I will buy one as soon as they are available.

  • Sian

I always thought bottom-firing was ideal for revolvers, it just puts the line of recoil that much lower, and doesn’t really have much in the way of a downside.

  • Tuco

It’s claimed the Rhino weighs 25 ounces with a 4-inch barrel, and note the hexagonal cylinder results in a flatter carry profile.

  • Rusty Ray

But, but, but I like recoil 🙁

  • Rex

Bring me a .44Mag with a 6+ inch barrel and a rail on top, and I’m sold.

  • HerbG

I can’t believe nobody has asked:

Does it have an internal lock?

    and the every popular

    Does it have MIM parts?

These questions followed by the inevitable “I’ll never buy one in a million years” if the answer to either question is ‘yes’.

I would really like to try one of the 6″ versions.

  • WJS

So I guess this is a Mateba without the semi-auto action?

  • osodog

The 4inch pictured is actually the 5, just so ya knows! These look sweeeeet, I want one now! Love this site, keep up the good work!

    • osodog, are you sure? the press release said 4″

i would get one because whether they succeed or fail this could be worth alot in 20 years like many other weird firearms

  • Josh

I fired the 2″, and I’m sold, it’s gonna be my personal CCW. With both .357 and 38 special, there was no (0, zero, nada) muzzle flip. Putting lead on paper with this thing just felt natural, and I am NOT a revolver guy.

  • zincorium

Unfortunately, the aesthetics of this are bizarrely bad, even if the idea itself is good.

Clean up the lines, reduce the novel written on the side, and introduce a version in larger calibers where the reduced muzzle flip is actually needed.

  • subase

The aesthetics are 21st century and futuristic instead of being a 150 year old design.

  • Pete

2in barrel looks wierd but 4in looks awesome…

  • JJ

Recoil…it looks like it has it, muzzle flip….looks like it’s gone!

  • Roger

I just got a 2″ Rhino last week for my gun collection. I find it attractiove, very solid made, even black finish, DA trigger pull is a bit stiff, and single action light. The lever (it is not a hammer) atop cocks the internal mechinism to shoot SA. It is also very heavy to pull. Down side i doubt if te horrid trigger pull can be lightened because of the wire springs used internaly.
I only paid $675. and it did come with a quality leather holster.
I read mine is in the 1st batch of 200 just released. Chippa contracts a small italian show with 10 employees to produce this gun. Longer versions may be a while.
All in all it is innovative. I have it displayed right next to the Ruger LCR

  • jeepster09

I love my 2″ Rhino…awesome gun, I have since getting this sold my 640 J frame.

  • jeepster09

They sell trigger kits to lighten trigger pull.

  • subase

Lowering the bore and raising the grip are no brainers. Only took over a hundred years, lol.

  • Roger

This is not a new design. it has been out quite a while as a matter of fact. I like my Rhino. Neat little revolver.

  • here is my solution to the its tooo big problem….PUT ON SOME FUCKING MUSCLE PEOPLE ….too big mess with the grips too, much recoil tame it, come on people lets hit the fucking weight bench comp warriors (oh and in case any of you are wondering ,im 5 ft 9 and bench press 280lbs and can curl 145 free hand )soooo BOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!

  • Roger

This site is relating to a firearm not bench pressing… your height along makes you sound like a troll.

  • I just want to know who do we send the check to.
I love that reverse Barrell sceme, wonder hotnit shoots, sometime getting over pretty is out weighted be performance,
I have the chech in hand for this little crickets. Can’t be more powerful tha my 500 mag smith,

Well have a great day. I have at wonderful place in my value got

  • Pikemaster

    One great looking gun !!

  • Randall J Hurd

I want the 4″. It’s no bigger than my Judge Public Defender and it comes in 357 MAG hopefully. I’d definitely Love to use the CHIAPPA for a Carry Pistol.
IWB Holsters, are they hard to find on this particular one? I have a person that makes Custom Cowhide Holsters with tooling for me. Just wondered if they came out with a Holster. The Guy that makes the Holster for in is one State Over in Louisanna and On one like this I don think he has a Blue Gun for. So Id have to mail the Pistol to him for the Leather Work.

  • Randall J Hurd

Yep MARO is having a ROID RAGE attack. Broken English, Off Topic, Don’t know that gives the community a Black Eye. But it does make himself look incredibly stupid. I believe by know everyone knows how steroids affect the human body. I’ve been noticing some forum trolls running around the internet on web pages. I’d give him a 2, just because of Broken English, syntax, vague attempt, and makes no sense. The better trolls usually hit the Science Web Sites.

    • maro45

hey Randy Turd, don’t diss on strong people, because you are a fatass wuss who can’t handle even a .22 gun
