New Extreme Long Range Cold Bore World Record
The world of ELR, or “ Extreme Long Range” shooting is all about pushing the envelope. The competitive shooters involved in this discipline are continually seeking ever greater levels of distance, accuracy, or both. Where most other shooting disciplines typically measure distance in meters or yards, Extreme Long Range practitioners converse in terms of miles. Competition records are being set and subsequently broken/re-set all the time. TFB has covered numerous amazing long-distance and world record stories in the past, and a selection of those are listed for you below.
World Record NBRSA 1000-Yard 10-Shot Benchrest Group Achieved
In pretty much any circumstances or shooting discipline, scoring a 10-round group all in the center ring is something to be striven for and proud of, for virtually any shooter. The vast majority of shooters out there today would struggle to make those consistent hits. Now consider achieving this feat at 1000 yards. Impressive stuff! Even more impressive is that the man who is making headlines in the benchrest shooting world for this accomplishment, seasoned NBRSA competitor Charles Greer, is 83 years old. How many octogenarians do you know who you think could pull this off? Odds are, it’s not too many. Greer used a .300 WSM “heavy gun” – that is to say, a rifle weighing over seventeen pounds, according to the National Benchrest Shooting Association’s official classifications – at an NBRSA match near Tuscon, Arizona on February 13th. Though official NBRSA measurements are still pending at the time of this writing, the grouping is being hailed as the most accurate 10-round in competition history and is almost certain to be confirmed as a new benchrest world record.
Raniero Testa Sets New World Record: 17 Airborne Clay Targets Shot in 2.08 Seconds
Over the past several years, Raniero Testa, an Italian athlete sponsored by Winchester, has set multiple world records of shooting airborne clay targets. A little over a year ago, he set a record of breaking 14 clays pigeons in mid-air which earned him a nickname/stage name RT14. Well, apparently, his new stage name is now RT17 as the latest achievement of this professional shooter is a new world record of busting a whopping amount of 17 hand-thrown clay targets in 2.08 seconds with 17 shots. Watch the video below.
12 Shots – 12 Gauge – 0.72 Seconds – New Record of Raniero Testa
TFB readers may remember when Raniero Testa managed to hit 13 clay targets in 1.6 seconds in 2017. In the meantime, the Winchester sponsored pro-shooter was able to best himself, hitting 14 hand-thrown clay targets before they reached the ground. Not one who sits on his laurels, now with the “stage name” RT14, he recently participated in a speed shooting challenge against Fabarm‘s shooter Umberto Tarcinale.
Team Global Precision Group Lands World Record Shot at 6,000 yards
In 2017, TFB reported that a new world record shot of 5,000 Yards (2.84 Miles) had been set by former Navy Seal Sniper Charlie Melton. Using a wildcat cartridge called “408 Tejas”, he was able to break the previous record of 4,604 Yards (2.61 Miles). Only a few years later, and another group of shooters has once again broken this record. This time, landing a shot past three miles.
New World Record by Gould Brothers: Clay Pigeons Shot at 160 Yards with Shotgun
Gould Brothers have published a new video of another unbelievable trick shot and world record. We’ve already seen them setting new world records such as shooting 8 clay targets in the air with the shotgun held upside down over the shooter’s head or an even more jaw-dropping trick shot when they were busting clay pigeons in the air with a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle at a 300-yard distance. The new world record that we’ll talk about today is a long-range clay shooting record with a shotgun and birdshot.
World Record: Three Consecutive Hits At 2,118 Yards
Every now and then you hear about a new long-range world record set at unbelievably long distances. However, often times you find out that the shots were fired on quite a large target and only one of many fired rounds hit the target. Should we really count such hits as records? I mean if you keep firing at a large enough target at the distance that your gun is capable of throwing bullets to, sooner or later you’ll make a hit. So there must be some standards and criteria.
Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms Auction Sets 10 World Records!
I was going to write another overview of the most expensive firearms sold at recently ended Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms auction in the same fashion that I have been doing it before. However, this time the auction was quite different – it set 10 world records of firearms sold at auctions. So instead of doing a top ten list, I thought it would be more interesting for our readers if I dedicate the article to the firearms that set these price records. And this time we will start with the most significant and expensive one. The record titles link to the corresponding Rock Island Auction Company website pages where you can learn more about these firearms. It is also important to understand that these records refer to sales in auction houses because it is impossible to know the sums of all the private deals.

Jerry Miculek To Attempt New World Record At SHOT Range Day
With SHOT getting closer and closer the amount of excitement grows as well as the size of my e-mail inbox. Press releases are plentiful, I assure you. That is OK though because this particular press release caught my attention. It appears that good ol’ Jerry is going to be attempting a new world record with a Smith & Wesson M&P 15T. The drill he is shooting is his very own “STL” or Share The Love drill.
