Savage Arms is typically associated with high-quality but economically priced hunting rifles but at IWA 2024, they are unveiling a high-end collaborative ultra-lightweight rifle with participation from Proof Research and MDT. The rifle will use an MDT chassis with carbon fiber elements and a folding stock, a Proof Research carbon fiber-wrapped barrel, and Savage’s excellent trigger. It’s hard to believe that Savage is getting on board with high-end players like MDT and Proof, but it’s a welcome surprise, to be sure.

Proof Research are expanding their rifle line into the rimfire world with the introduction of the new Latitude bolt action rifle. The Proof Research Latitude is a precision rimfire rifle built with premium components and comes with a factory guarantee of 1/2 MOA accuracy at 50 yards. Let’s take a closer look.

PROOF Research and MDT have teamed up to produce the ultimate precision rifle. The new PROOF Research MDT Chassis Rifle takes the high-quality barrels of PROOF and combines them with the solid foundations that MDT produces for barreled actions. The new rifle will be available in .223 Rem, 6 ARC, 6 Dasher, 6 Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .308 Win.

PROOF Research has just been awarded a new military contract for new “medium caliber” weapons systems which builds upon the company’s previously successful small caliber barrel technology which is currently in service with U.S. Military Forces. PROOF Research specializes in precision-made firearm barrels for both bolt-action and AR-type rifles and even produces complete rifle systems. In addition, the company also has an advanced materials & technologies division specializing in advanced composites.

PROOF Research has announced a new addition to their line of bolt-action rifles called the Tundra. This is a hunting rifle and as described by the company, it brings the adjustability and performance of a tactical rifle into a long-range hunting platform. When  Hornady announced the new 6mmARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) cartridge, there were a few firearms and barrel manufacturers ready with products in the caliber for those who want to become early adopters. In our Photo Of The Day, we’ll take a look at one of them, namely the Lantac 11.5” 6mmARC Pig Pistol.

Savage introduced expansions to their existing series of rifles, as well as a completely new Renegauge shotgun at this year’s SHOT Show.  These featured a wide variety of options in both lineups.  As well as a slew of new choices in both caliber, color, and configuration.  Savage looks to take the brand farther toward what the end-user wants with their new lineup.

The Proof Research Glacier TI (Lightweight Mountain Hunter) is an amazing rifle with a carbon fiber-wrapped, match-grade barrel and an action made of Titanium. In 2020, the Proof Glacier line is expanding and the rifle is now available in a traditional steel action.

PROOF Research announced today that they’ll be providing barrels to the DoD’s extended long range sniper program.  These new Barrett MRAD rifles are chambered in Hornady’s new 300 PRC round (that I recently had a chance to try in a different rifle).  Here’s what PROOF Research had to say in today’s press release.  

Not a lot of AR-styled clones are side-charged. I have a JP Enterprises PCS-12 which has this functionality, and the pictured REPR MKII-SC (Side-Charge) from LWRCI is another example.

This year I was fortunate to have saved up enough to rebarrel my .308 18″ barrel Surgeon Scalpel.  I opted to go with a 24″ 1/8 twist PROOF Research Carbon Fiber Wrapped barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor.   Ever since my awesome experience with MPA’s 6.5CM BA Lite, I had been interested in acquiring a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle of my own.  I had two bolt action precision rifles chambered in .308 with short bull barrels, and I had been saving for a PROOF barrel for some time.  Therefore, instead of purchasing a totally new rifle, I thought the Surgeon would be an excellent candidate for re-barreling.  Georgia’s Collier Rifles (a great place for cutting/threading services as well) had the barrel I was looking for, and off my rifle went to be re-barreled in a timely fashion.
