TBX Hunting has announced at SHOT 2024 the start of production for its innovative Popshot muzzleloader speed loader system. The company has developed this system exclusively for .50 caliber muzzleloaders, catering to the needs of enthusiasts who favor quick and convenient loading during hunts.

Traditions, a company specializing in muzzleloading firearms, has unveiled a collection of new accessories intended to improve the shooting experience of their high-end muzzleloader models. Instead of presenting any brand-new firearms this year, the company kept its focus on enhancing their existing lineup with practical accessories.

Fierce Firearms have released a new 45-caliber bolt action muzzleloading rifle called  Carbon MZ PRO which is an improved version of their previous muzzleloaders. In bolt action muzzleloaders, the ignition element of the system (in this case Arrowhead GEN 2 LRMP ignition module) is inserted and removed via a turn bolt action but the propellant and projectile are loaded into the barrel through the muzzle. The company guarantees sub-MOA accuracy for this firearm and notes that this is the most deadly accurate muzzleloader ever produced at Fierce Firearms. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the new Fierce Firearms Carbon MZ PRO muzzleloader.

Uintah Precision, a company primarily known for making bolt action AR uppers and complete firearms, has entered the muzzleloader market. However, what they make is not your great-great-grandfather’s muzzleloader. The new Uintah Precision Modern Sporting Muzzleloader can be easily mistaken for one of their AR bolt guns, but if you look closely, you’ll notice a ramrod over the barrel!

There have been many innovations in the muzzleloader industry in the past few years. SilencerCo brought us the “ Maxim 50” — history’s first (and only briefly 50-state legal) integrally suppressed muzzleloading rifle:

You also get their Elite XT trigger system and according to Traditions, you can expect 200+ yard accuracy. The weight is around 5.75 pounds.

I have to confess that I didn’t know that hunting with muzzleloaders was a thing, but it’s legal in several states in the United States and seems to be gaining in popularity. Federal Ammunition calls their new product FireStick, and describe it as a whole new chapter in muzzleloading technology. By the looks of it, the FireStick reduces the amount of steps you need to take to fire a muzzleloader quite dramatically. We got our first look at the Fire Stick back at SHOT Show 2020, check out our earlier article here.

About a year ago, we published an article telling about muzzleloading double-barreled break-action derringers made by a Czech company called Czechgun. Apparently, the company has been since renamed to Detonics and recently, they announced that they’ve expanded this line of firearms to now include .50 cal muzzleloading and 410 bore shotguns.

When you hear “black powder muzzleloader derringer” you most likely think about the original single barrel Philadelphia Deringer and definitely not about anything with a modern appearance. But the Czech company called Czechgun has developed a gun that is not your great-great-great-grandfather’s derringer. Gladiator 500 HD is a black powder muzzleloading .50 caliber smoothbore derringer that looks like a modern pocket handgun.

Earlier this week, Fierce Firearms sales manager Courtney Crane posted a video and photos of an catastrophic event that occurred while his friend (unnamed) was shooting a Remington 700 Ultimate Muzzleloader bolt action rifle. The event caused the complete destruction of the rifle, splitting the barrel like a banana peel and destroying the rifle’s stock. The shooter, unfortunately, was seriously injured, with shrapnel tearing through his hand in multiple places, requiring stitches and – likely – major surgery to repair. As of the time of this writing, it is not yet know what caused the catastrophic event. It is possible that the weapon was double-loaded (two charges and projectiles stacked together), causing excessive pressure, but that is not confirmed.
