#9x18Makarov
The Armenian K-2 Semi-Auto Pistol
Many of the firearms developed in post-Soviet republics are extremely obscure with only a few pictures and brief descriptions available at best. There are multiple reasons why: from the secrecy of such projects to their limited production numbers (if they even made it past the prototype stage) due to the economic inefficiency of adopting and producing completely new firearms on a large scale, partially because all these countries inherited entire arsenals of guns from the Soviet Union. One such rare firearm is the Armenian K-2 pistol. Fortunately, we recently had a chance to examine and shoot this handgun as well as talk to the designer (he preferred to remain anonymous).
TFB FIELD STRIP: Makarov Pistol And Licensed Copies
After WW2, the Soviet Union was replacing its entire fleet of small arms. And while some Russian weapons that were accepted into service in the late 40s and early 50s, like AK-47 and SKS, became a timeless classic and overtime proved itself, there was at least one gun that did not make much sense. I am talking about Makarov pistol, also known as PM (Pistol, Makarov).
BEGINNERS MAKAROV: An Introduction From HumbleGunGuy
The Pistolet Makarova, known in the U.S. as just the Makarov, began production in 1951, as a much needed replacement for the TT33 Tokarev and Nagant revolvers. Requirements for the replacement of these two service pistols were as such: Simplicity and Reliability. If you’re at all familiar with the sidearms used by the Soviets in World War 2, being more compact and lighter in weight may have also been considered when designing what we see today. Beginners Makarov is a guest post by HumbleGunGuy.
The Russian APS, PP 90 and ultra-rare PP91
Army Inside have released an interesting video with the APS pistol and the PP90 and PP91 sub-machine guns.
9×18 Makarov Glock 42?
The guys at Lone Wolf have come out with a conversion barrel that will allow you to shoot 9×18 Makarov out of a Glock 42! I had dismissed the Glock 42 since it shoots .380 but now that it can shoot 9×18 Makarov I am intrigued. The photo above a little misleading as it shows a threaded barrel but on their website they only have a stock length barrel. I am sure in due time they will have a threaded version. Now I am tempted to get a Glock 42 . . . for the Mrs. Yes for the Mrs. LOL
