Smith & Wesson M&P4 Rifles Now Available for Military & LE

Smith & Wesson has announced the M&P4 rifle series is now available for the Military and Law Enforcement professional market. A leader in firearm manufacturing and design, the Maryville, TN company promises the M&P4 is engineered with excellence across various applications and conditions, built for reliability and versatility in multiple configurations. Intended to perform in a broad range of professional applications, M&P4 rifles are easy to customize for the individual user and mission parameters while built to last under unforgiving conditions.

The M&P4 rifles feature select-fire capability and are available in popular barrel lengths of 11.5 or 14.5 inches. They are fitted with six-position receiver extensions and adjustable stocks from the factory with Smith & Wesson advertising effective ranges of 300 to 600 meters, depending on the model, which is pretty standard fare for the 5.56.

The upper and lower receivers or the M&P4 are forged 7075 aluminum with a black anodized finish. Bores and chambers are chrome-lined for longevity and corrosion resistance. Additional standard features include hinged trigger guards, chromed firing pins, and mil-spec bolt carriers.

“Smith & Wesson is proud to expand our world-renowned family of M&P rifles to include military-grade, select-fire variants as we continue to pursue our global strategy of growing the government business channel. The new M&P4 product family meets or exceeds our professional customers’ needs and is commensurate with their expectations of our iconic and globally recognized brand,” said Matthew Fehmel, Senior Director of Global Professional & International Sales.

I’m a fan of no-frills rugged AR15s that keep things simple and reliable, something Smith & Wesson has always been great at with the M&P15 series and is essential for military and LE weapons. There isn’t a lot out there now about the new M&P4, but it seems to me like a continuation of that product we all know and love but in a select fire model for law enforcement and the military. I know, I know. I think all law-abiding citizens should have access to giggle switches too.

Hey congress, this is an assault rifle, it has that nifty little "select fire" switch on the side. The ones the public cab buy DOES NOT, so it's called a rifle, yup just five letters in its description as a firearm.
