Colt Awarded M4A1 Carbines and Suppressors Contract
Colt’s Manufacturing Co. LLC has been awarded a $12.93 million firm-fixed-price contract to supply Colt M4A1 carbines along with suppressors and flash hiders under the U.S. government’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The contract was awarded to Colt’s facility in West Hartford, Connecticut, with work scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2026. Fiscal Year 2025 FMS funds for Israel, totaling $12,934,700, were obligated at the time of the award.
The contract covers the procurement of complete Colt M4A1 carbines as well as associated muzzle devices, underscoring continued international demand for the well-established M4A1 platform. Through the FMS process, U.S.-manufactured small arms are supplied to allied nations using standardized configurations that emphasize interoperability, logistics support, and long-term sustainment.
For those who don’t know, the Colt M4A1 is a 5.56×45mm NATO, select-fire carbine featuring a 14.5-inch barrel. It is built around a direct-impingement gas system and is compatible with a wide range of optics, accessories, and support equipment thanks to its flat-top upper receiver and standardized rail interfaces. The platform has seen extensive service with U.S. and allied forces and is known for its balance of compact size, controllability, and adaptability across different mission profiles.
In recent years, the inclusion of suppressors and dedicated flash hiders in military procurement contracts has become increasingly common, reflecting operational priorities such as reduced muzzle flash, improved signature management, and better communication in confined or low-light environments.
This latest contract reinforces Colt’s ongoing role as a supplier of military small arms for U.S. allies and highlights the continued relevance of the M4A1 carbine in modern service, both as a primary infantry weapon and as a flexible platform capable of supporting evolving operational requirements.

Looks like CZ Colt has become more competitive with this contract and the 2024 contract of 57 million dollar in 2024.
Well, that should keep Colt on life support for awhile longer.
