Hi-Lux Optics Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope

Hi-Lux Optics has added another scope to their line of Malcolm vintage reproduction optics. The new scope is called Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope (VTS). It is a 20-power fixed magnification scope, a reproduction of the Unertl Target 1.5″ scope. Let’s take a closer look.
Reproductions @ TFB:Despite being a reproduction of a vintage scope, the Hi-Lux Optics Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope is made with modern materials and manufacturing techniques. All threads and metallic parts are CNC machined and the steel tube features a laser spot welded rib. The lenses are precision grind to micron tolerances and feature modern full multi coating with DiamondTuff14 coating which is advertised to provide over 99.5% light transmission across the visible light spectrum.
Hi-Lux Optics Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope comes with Hi-Lux Vintage Sniper Competition mounts which rear micrometer mount allows for 1/4 MOA adjustments. The parallax adjustment mechanism is at the objective lens and allows adjusting the parallax from 10 yards to infinity. The scope uses a fine crosswire reticle which cant can be adjusted. The eyepiece allows adjusting the focus on the reticle. When the rifle is fired, the scope slides forward in the mounts (or rather tends to stay in place while the rifle recoils) and the recoil spring is added to bring the scope back to its initial position.
The Hi-Lux Optics Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope has a 3/4″ tube and 41mm objective lens diameters. The eye relief is 2.5″ and the field of view is four feet at 100 yards. The overall length of the scope is 25-3/4″ and it weighs in at 32oz.
The Malcolm 20X Vintage Target Scope is listed on the Hi-Lux Optics website at an MSRP of $849.

that thing would look great on a Sharps!
I've got a Malcolm sight on a repro 03-A3. It is pretty horrible. It hasn't held up to recoil at all. It's been replaced by them two times already, and was told that it will not be replaced again. No abuse, just shooting factory 30-06 ammo. A buddy of mine has the 8x Unertil (sp?) scope on a repro Marine sniper 03. It too is cheaply made, not holding settings. Parts cannot be tightened enough...
I have heard that Hi-Lux does make quality optics. But those are in the $2K, plus range. The optics on the repro guns, or just good old repro scopes, are not quality optics.
