Micro Red Dot Mania! NEW Springfield Armory XD-S Mod.2 OSP 9mm
If you have already found and paid for your seat on the micro red dot bandwagon for handguns you might be excited to hear that another pistol is joining the club. Springfield Armory has taken their long-running CCW pistol in the XD-S (Xtreme Duty – Single Stack) and gave it the OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) goodness. Today they have launched their New XD-S Mod.2 OSP 9mm series of handguns! You have your choice of what you might call the base model in the XD-S Mod.2 OSP which is cut for you to adapt a micro red dot of your choosing, or there is a factory model that comes with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 Micro Red Dot. The MSRP for the Springfield Armory XD-S Mod.2 OSP 9mm is $425 while the XD-S Mod.2 OSP 9mm with the Crimson Trace CTS-1500 Micro Red Dot is benchmarked at an MSRP of $549. One of the only questions that remain yet to be answered is if the OSP cut on these handguns will allow for other makes and models of micro red dots besides the Crimson Trace footprint we already know that fits. The Trijicon RMRcc would be one I would definitely want to see if it could fit on the XD-S Mod.2 OSP 9mm. The other question I had in mind is what do YOU think?! Are you all micro red dotted out? Not interested unless they bring it out in 45 and even then I'd have to try one to see if the trigger is still garbage.
There's a lot of parts in those pistols, I'm of a mind the fewer little parts the better. Not to be a complainer or pick it to death, I don't see the reason to put red dot sights or much else on a "micro handgun"...seems like one would want to keep them simple and sleek. In a real life gunfight it will be muzzle to muzzle with the winner being the one who can keep his/her on straight enough to get off the first "good" shot. Just my two-bits...
