I was curious as to why the guy in the TFB video was having fail to fire malfunctions. I set out to try to duplicate those issues as I didn't have any problems with my P17.

If I held the trigger back while the slide cycled without resetting it all the way and/or short stroke the trigger it would sometimes fail to cock the hammer and I got a FTF. I'm guessing that the hammer rides the slide forward if you don't reset the trigger properly. Racking the slide about 1/4" allowed it to fire. When pressing/pulling the trigger and immediately releasing it all the way I didn't have that problem.

I'm guessing the the guy in the TFB video was holding the trigger back and/or short stroking it which caused his FTF issues.

If you are used to a short trigger reset (like on a Glock) I can see where you might have that problem.
