Federal Premium recently developed the 224 Valkyrie cartridge, which transforms the MSR 15 platform and shatters the boundaries of ballistic performance. It provides match accuracy, supersonic velocities beyond 1,300 yards, significantly less wind drift and drop than other loads in its class, and less than half the recoil of cartridges with comparable ballistics.

Also I am not sure comparing to Gold Medal Match for 6.5 Grendel is fair. Yes, same bullet line, but Hornady ELD-m is cheaper, has a higher velocity and a .506 G1. It has a drop of -413.5 inches at 1000yds and 99.3in of wind drift for a 10mph wind.
It is also half the price of GMM .224V.
And is supersonic till 1200yds depending on altitude/atmospheric conditions.
And about 25% more energy out past 600yds. Not that I think many are going to be using either platform for real sniping.
Don't get me wrong, I am intrigued and if I can source a good quality barrel in 22-24" range, fluted, I'll probably build one at some point. At least if .224V ends up being something that sticks around.
But it isn't much better than 6.5 Grendel other than having a big manufacturer supporting it, which also means slightly lower ammo costs for some Federal loadings.
Also from a shorter barrel, 6.5 Grendel seems to have superior performance in terms of bullet drop/drift if you are talking 16-18" and maybe 20".
Walks in gun store and says, "Give me that new Federal Premium Gold Medal Sierra Match king 224 Valkyrie."
Now that is a spit spraying mouthful LOL
