Federal Premium produces a lot of quality boxed ammunition for those of us who may not reload, but want that hand-loaded consistency. When it comes to precision rifle shooting events, you consistently see one brand be lobbed down range over and over: Berger Bullets. In the Gold Medal series of ammunition, Federal Premium looks to replicate for the general public what hand-loaders have accomplished for quite some time.
By using Berger’s Juggernaut Open-Tip Match (OTM), Hybrid OTM and Boat-Tail (BT) Target bullets, you can now buy long-range accuracy by the box. Federal’s obsessive quality control and Berger’s significantly high ballistic coefficients contribute to less wind drift and drop in your overall shooting.
Federal chose a great company to collaborate with, but sometimes its best to get the scoop straight from the horse’s mouth:
Federal Premium Ammunition is proud to announce its new Gold Medal Berger, which combines the most sought-after bullets on the Precision Rifle Series with the industry’s most trusted factory ammunition. Shipments are currently being delivered to dealers. New Gold Medal Berger loads feature an advanced boat-tail bullet with a high ballistic coefficient to provide the flattest trajectories, less wind drift and surgical long-range accuracy. To get the most performance out of the bullet designs, these new loads use Gold Medal match primers, Federal brass and specially formulated propellant, and they adhere to Federal Premium’s strictest specifications for accuracy, pressure and velocity.
To start, Federal is rolling out four common calibers you see in long range shooting. Their bullet types, grain weights, associated calibers, and expected price offerings can be seen below.
- .223 Remington 73 Grain Berger BT Target – MSRP $32.95

- 6.5 Creedmoor 130 Grain Hybrid OTM – MSRP $34.95

As with all lines of ammunition offered by Federal Premium, expect to see many more calibers and grain weight offerings in the future.
