The Kahr Arms Group has collaborated with Outlaw Ordnance to produce a limited run of a one-of-a-kind Desert Eagle 1911. This 1911 is emblazoned with a special cerakote finish, custom features and is being dubbed the “We The People” Desert Eagle 1911 CSS.

Every year there seems to be a new industry or consumer favorite color. A few years ago, it seemed like it was olive drab green (OD Green). Last year, flat dark earth (FDE) was the buzz color of choice. For 2017, the trend appears to be “battleworn” finishes. Sig Sauer recently debuted one of their own battleworn finished firearms with a “We The People” 1911 model.

I try not to be possessive of Holidays, knowing that everyone from around the world can celebrate them. In fact, I try to welcome as much as possible. However, Independence Day is a sacred day to me, having served my beloved country. So, it feels just a tinge of “cultural appropriation” that Sig Sauer (admittedly, Sig Sauer USA, but the German-owned company nonetheless) puts out the “We The People” 1911. This is something I would expect Colt or Wilson Combat to do.

Sometimes you see a Cerakote finish so impressive or flat-out awesome you simply cannot pass up the opportunity to share it. Such was the case at this year’s NRA Annual Meeting, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky (next year it’s slotted to take place in Atlanta, Georgia). The guns in question were on display at the VFOB – Veteran’s Family of Brands – group of booths, an organization spearheaded by Axelson Tactical and Snake River Shooting Products.
