[SHOT 2020] Industry Range Day – EOTech Vudu Model 1-8×24 SFP

At SHOT Range Day today, EOTech debuted its newest addition to the Vudu line, a 1-8×24 variable power scope with a second focal plane. The 1-8×24 has a wire reticle, and a fiber optic to add the daylight visible illuminated Triplex BDC reticle. The primary market for the 1-8×24 will be the 3-gun competition market. That said, it is practical for hunting or target shooting. EOTech’s booth representative informed me that while designing this optic, they had taken a lot of direction from their 3-gun customers.

1-8x Variable Power Optics for USMC? Squad Common Optic Solicitation Released

The United States Marine Corps is looking for new advanced optics for rifles and IARs that are capable of switching between a low magnification mode and a high (6-8x) magnification mode, according to a recent request for information (RFI) released through FedBizOpps at the end of last month. The RFI, which solicits proposals from the industry but does not kick off bids for a contract, lists stringent requirements for the proposals, dubbed the “Squad Combat Optic”. SCO’s requirements include a 1-6 (or greater) power, ability to identify targets at 600m or more, a field of view of at least 18 degrees, and reticles designed for M4, M4A1, and M27 rifles firing M855A1 ammunition. BREAKING: USMC Releases RFI for New Infantry Rifles, Uppers, Optics, Suppressors, Targets

In a surprising turn of events given the recent public motions towards an all-M27 fleet, the United States Marine Corps has just released a new request for information (RFI), soliciting proposals from the industry for a whole new suite of infantry equipment, including rifles, upper receivers for existing weapons, optics, suppressors, and targets.
