5.11 Tactical's ABR Academy Classes Return Along with the USCCA
5.11’s ABR (Always Be Ready) Academy classes are making a comeback for 2023 with a new twist – they’ll now include instruction from USCCA, one of the country’s largest concealed carry defense organizations. 5.11 Tactical’s ABR Academy will focus on everything ranging from how to set up tactical and preparedness gear, preparing things like bug out bags, and will also now include topics like trauma care, and self-defense for those who want to learn and always be ready. All of these classes are going to be completely free and will be hosted by certified experts from the industry at participating 5.11 Stores across the nation.
USCCA Announces Partnership with SIG SAUER
The United States Concealed Carry Association, or USCCA, is an organization focused on providing resources and benefits to responsibly armed Americans. They offer a variety of informational initiatives from training and education, legal guidance, digital tutorials and checklists, and more. They also offer self-defense liability insurance coverage for their members. Now the Association has announced a new partner, one of the firearms industry’s top gun manufacturers: SIG SAUER.
USCCA's New Emergency Preparedness Training Program
For nearly two decades, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, or USCCA, has sought to provide education, training, and legal protection for responsibly armed citizens. Their main focus is to support Americans who want to be prepared for possible self-defense and home-defense encounters, particularly in the area of legal protection after the fact. They style themselves as “…the nation’s fastest-growing organization dedicated to educating, training and providing legal protection for responsibly armed Americans. Founded in 2003, the USCCA exists solely to serve and support more than 400,000 members who have the commitment and courage to be their families’ first lines of defense.” However, they understand that defensive shooting is only one component (albeit an important one) of an individual’s or family’s larger preparedness mindset and planning initiative. If nothing else, 2020’s tumultuous events have shown this all too well. To this end, USCCA has announced a new preparedness training program with the following August 31st press release.
Firearm Insurance Programs Denied In New Jersey
Last month, TFB reported about the New Jersey Governor’s executive order which would restrict some companies that offer firearms insurance under certain provisions. The order also limits the state from doing business with companies that don’t have “public safety principles” and related policies. The executive order directed the state’s Commissioner of Banking and Insurance to prohibit or limit the sale of products that may “encourage the improper use of firearms.” Law Enforcement Today reported that companies such as U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) and the National Rifle Association’s Carry Guard programs are considered violations of the executive order.
USCCA Announces Linda Harris Memorial Scholarship
In a touching act of remembrance, US Concealed Carry announced late this January that they were establishing the Linda Harris Memorial Scholarship. Linda passed away at age 68 on September 1st of last year.
USCCA Partners with PDN
There was a bit of a dust up back before the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meetings (NRAAM) when it was announced that the US Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) had been disinvited to the exposition. Since that time the NRA officially launched its concealed carry insurance program called Carry Guard. This program appears to be in direct competition to the USCCA own self defense insurance products.
BREAKING: USCCA Has Been Disinvited To NRA Annual Meeting
In a press release issued yesterday, it was revealed that the USCCA has been disinvited to NRA Annual Meeting. The press release comes less than two weeks from the show and cited no reason other than s wild guess as to the NRA‘s motives. USCCA stated in the press release that their best guess is the move was a “strategic business maneuver” because the NRA recognizes the USCCA as a frontrunner in concealed carry related matters.
Extreme CQB: No Aim Firing
To quote the presentation from the US Concealed Carry Association, I “hope you are never in the unenviable position” of dealing with a threat in extreme close quarters. For those who may perhaps be in the subway or similar extremely tight situations, USCCA has a great little video on drawing and shooting with no sights.
