The Slow Mo Guys are at it again using high-speed cameras to observe firearms. This time they are bouncing bullets across a fish tank and filming it with a high-speed Phantom TMX7510 to watch what happens to the bullets when they skip across the water.

This Photo Of The Day takes place at night, somewhere in Switzerland. The country is landlocked, so we can assume that they spend more on their army and airforce than their navy. I’m not sure which kind of anti-aircraft guns are used in these pictures, but perhaps the Oerlikon GDF, Oerlikon 35 mm twin cannons? Or do you have a better idea? Oerlikon is now part of Rheinmetall Air Defence AG.

Did you ever try target shooting with tracers? It was fun, wasn’t it?

One issue with night time ops and the tracer rounds is that anyone watching can following the tracers back to their origin, giving the shooters position away.   The engineer’s at the Picatinny arsenal are working on the One-Way Luminescence, or OWL round.
