FirearmLand specializes in finding, researching, and then auctioning off a wide variety of firearms from modern options to some rare antiques and even NFA items. Today Matt and Annalise join the podcast to discuss how their business is run in tandem with their other business CashForArms and how this business has given them some rare opportunities to look at and shoot guns they’d otherwise never get to touch. Today Matt and Annalise will also talk about their growing YouTube channel, which is intended to give their viewers a closer look at some rare and unique firearms that we don’t often get to see. The TFBTV has grown and shrunk over the years but in the last couple of years, we’ve really refined our methods and approaches to each and every show we tackle. Today on the podcast we’ll be speaking with one of the unsung heroes of the TFBTV crew, Adam M. Unlike myself, James, Hop, or even Ryan, Adam isn’t your typical firearm nerd and is rather more interested in the practical application of firearms for self-defense. Coming from a background in the television industry, Adam has been instrumental in helping the crew get high-quality editing done on the road so that you guys get the latest up-to-date news from the show floor. Today we’ll get to learn a bit more about one of the auxiliary members of the crew, what kinds of guns he’s into, and what he’s looking forward to most from his upcoming trip to Thunder Ranch.

NRAAM 2024 is all wrapped up and in the books. This year we didn’t see a whole bunch of groundbreaking releases or entirely new products but instead, we saw a lot of revival product lines. Today on the Podcast, Hop and I go over some of our observations about social media and its influence on the firearms industry, as well as our thoughts and opinions about which subsectors of the firearms community are driving most of the trends and sales that we’re seeing. Today I’ve brought on Eric and Jordan from Meprolight to talk a little bit about their company’s history not just here in the US, but where they started back in Israel. Like the US, Israel has a lot of domestically produced firearms, optics, and ordnance which they sometimes export to other countries. Meprolight along with IWI are just some of these companies and they’ve both recently put a lot more effort into producing products for regular consumers instead of just for military outfits. Today we’ll get a bit of that story in the form of a short history lesson from Eric and Jordan. Please give them both a warm welcome to the show!

Today we are back again with TFB’s Vladimir Onokoy to talk with him about his wild adventures with guns in the Russian film industry. While most of you will no doubt know Vladimir from his extensive body of work right here on TFB, he’s done a lot of other stuff too including some stints as a security contractor, armorer, sales rep, and as you’ll hear about today – a set armorer, movie firearms consultant, and actor within the Russian film industry. Everything from live ammo on set to hundreds of working tanks in a single prop house inventory, Vlad has seen a lot of unique angles in the Russian film industry so today’s podcast is a real treat if you’re both a firearms nerd and a movie buff. Competitions are one of my favorite ways to enjoy my firearms outside of getting to test and review them. Often I like to combine those two things and test out new or unfamiliar equipment at matches. Moons Out Goons Out 2024 is exactly this type of match which is why I’m excited that over the next couple of weeks, we’ll get to talk to several of the competitors who attended Moons Out 2024. Moons Out Goons Out is a carbine-only match that focuses on shooting under night vision using IR and/or passive aiming methods only – no white light allowed. This particular match is rare and gave all of the competitors a chance to fully experience their night vision devices under a variety of situations and scenarios including shooting from moving vehicles, treating simulated wounds, and even shooting “battlefield pickups” that feature no night vision aiming devices at all. Today we’ll hear from Ian McCollum and Jordan Flayer of Forgotten Weapons as they detail some of their favorite parts of the match for us, and some of the challenges and work they’ve had to go through to make the match such a huge success.

You’ve seen him featured here before a couple of times on TFBTV but at SHOT Show 2024, Editor-in-Chief Pete was able to get an exclusive interview with famous Chicago rapper Twista and talk shop with him. Today Pete and Twista not only talk about some of their favorite guns and shooting disciplines, but Twista also explains what his gun organization – Gun Camp – does for the people of not just Chicago, but all of Illinois when it comes to self-defense, and the right to keep and bear arms. Twista also clues us into what first interested him in guns as a young kid, his reasons for getting his first gun later on in life, and how that led to him wanting to open up a completely free gun training academy for other people in his state. In today’s episode, we’re proud to have not only a representative of Savage Arms but also a representative of a rapidly growing market within the firearms industry – women who hunt! Beth Shimanski is an extremely accomplished hunter who has a load of experience within the hunting sphere of the firearms industry and today she shares with Pete some of her passions, what she likes about a hunting rifle and some of the things coming down the pipeline from Savage Arms in 2024. In addition to that, Beth and Pete also talk about the rapidly growing demographic of women who are now participating in hunting and shooting sports, and how she aspires to be a great ambassador for that and the Savage brand.

This week we’re back with another episode from SHOT Show 2024 featuring the crew from Open Source Defense (OSD). OSD is dedicated to promoting and defending gun rights without the political side of things – something we can fully get behind here at TFB. They prioritize an online-first approach, recognizing the importance of building and spreading a pro-gun culture through digital platforms. The group emphasizes the value of good principles, even if they lead to disagreement, and stresses the significance of making hard decisions based on clear, honest, and decisive values. They describe themselves as “digital natives,” believing that effective advocacy for gun rights must occur online –  something they’ll talk about today in their interview with Pete. The group strives to be likable and approachable, aiming to persuade through positive engagement rather than confrontation, which is all too common in the gun industry. Despite their friendly approach, they are unwavering in their commitment to making principled arguments in favor of expansive gun rights, considering it a fundamental human right. Today on the show the crew will talk about the crucial role that 3D-printed firearms will play in the coming years, as well as the legality of electronically triggered firearms and why the ATF may be targeting this specific feature that has become quite popular in the DIY firearm world.

The crew of Surefire LLC made their annual appearance at SHOT Show 2024 giving the TFB and TFBTV crews plenty of time to cover some of their latest products. While James covered the recent release of the Stiletto Pro II, I was able to get a closer look at the compact XR1 and XR2 rechargeable weaponlights that are finally being released for sale in just a few months. Pete meanwhile had a nice casual conversation about all of that and more with Andrew Wright who has been helping us get the latest details on all SureFire products for years now.

Longtime readers of the blog and frequent listeners of the podcast will know that I’m personally a huge fan of shooting competitions. While I have my roots in Steel Challenge, in the 15 years that I’ve been competitively shooting I’ve expanded my portfolio of successfully completed matches from trap shooting to obscure and insane competitions like Finnish and Woodland Brutality. This year is already chalking up to be one of my busiest years for competition and while at SHOT Show 2024, I might have just talked my way into probably the toughest competition yet – The Tactical Games. At the show, I was able to have an in-person and on-video interview with the guy who runs the Tactical Games, Nick Thayer. Nick Thayer was happy to be on the podcast not just to talk about the competition and how you can get into it, but also about the unique relationship that Under Armour has with the Tactical Games, and how their support of the sport is a good indicator of things to come in the shooting sports space. Personally, I had always assumed that Under Armour was an “anti-gun” company, but as you’ll hear in today’s episode, that attitude is slowly making its way out the door at the fitness clothing mogul, and that could mean great things for more than just the shooting sports industry.

Extreme heat and extreme cold often claim the lives of those who don’t come prepared – even if that means you’re in the range when conditions change. In light of some recent examples I’ve seen across the internet like people getting helplessly stuck in the ice and snow, I thought I’d bring along a subject matter expert to help us all be better prepared for these types of situations. BrassFacts has done a lot of research, training, and actual survivalist camping throughout his entire life and has even taught winter survival overseas. While the advice he has in this particular podcast isn’t what you’ll get from Artic Ranger training, these simple tips, items, and pieces of knowledge are just about what everyone needs to keep themselves out of trouble and alive if they find themselves in trouble in the snow.
